{"id":424546,"date":"2020-03-25T12:56:53","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T19:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=424546"},"modified":"2020-03-25T12:56:53","modified_gmt":"2020-03-25T19:56:53","slug":"usa-diving-announces-adoption-of-rewritten-bylaws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-diving-announces-adoption-of-rewritten-bylaws\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Diving Announces Adoption of Rewritten Bylaws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USA Diving on Wednesday announced that its board of directors adopted new bylaws, effective March 15, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Per a USA Diving statement, \u201cbylaws were completely rewritten to bring USA Diving up to date with best practices in nonprofit governance, with assistance and feedback from various stakeholders throughout the USA Diving community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the notable changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Composition of the board, which will include 15 members: Eight unaffiliated, three athletes, two coaches, one at-large and one elected by the allied organizations, with all board officers to come from the unaffiliated members.<\/li>\n<li>New committees, including SafeSport Committee, the Nominating and Elections Committee, the Coaches Advisory Committee, and the Allied Organizations Committee, with charters to be approved by the board.<\/li>\n<li>The board will assume responsibility for approving technical rules of the organization.<\/li>\n<li>The bylaws excise certain policies, including the Code of Conduct, to separate documents, for ease of access and updating. A Bullying Policy exists as an appendix.<\/li>\n<li>USA Diving will also develop specific conflict of interest and whistleblower policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamusa.org\/usa-diving\/resources\/bylaws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The full bylaws are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to see these new bylaws go into effect,\u201d said <strong>Lee Michaud,<\/strong> who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lee-michaud-named-president-of-usa-diving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">named president of USA Diving last week<\/a>. \u201cAs we look toward the future, it\u2019s imperative that our bylaws are such that will help propel us forward and continue to grow the sport of diving in the U.S. The hard work that was done to set the organization up for future success was no small feat, and we are grateful to all who gave their time, energy and expertise to this project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>USA Diving said it is already transitioning to the new governance structure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA Diving on Wednesday announced that its board of directors adopted new bylaws, effective March 15, 2020.
