This week’s ZUMO Performance of the Week goes to\u00a0Adam Peaty<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain for his 58.13 100 breaststroke LCM at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet in Scotland. Only he has swum faster than that time, which makes it all the more impressive considering it is over a second slower than his PB at 56.88.<\/p>\n It is the 15th fastest performance in history, as Peaty holds the top 18 spots. Belarus’\u00a0Ilya Shymanovich\u00a0<\/strong>is second all-time with a 58.29 from March 2019 as he, at his best, is on line with Peaty in mid-season shape.<\/p>\n Now that the British Olympic trials are to be postponed<\/a>\u00a0in the light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the meet at the Royal Commonwealth Pool may well be the final time many of these swimmers will be in competition for a while.<\/p>\n Whether Peaty will even get the chance to defend his Olympic title in Tokyo in July is questionable given the Games are increasingly under threat.<\/a><\/p>\n The world-record holder was out in 27.12 and back in 31.01 ahead of\u00a0James Wilby<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 who won silver behind Peaty at the 2019 World Championships \u2013 who clocked 59.48 and 2015 world bronze medallist\u00a0Ross Murdoch<\/strong>\u00a0(1:00.48).<\/p>\n It was the fastest time in the world this year, 0.30secs ahead of the 58.43\u00a0set by\u00a0Arno Kamminga<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>of the Netherlands last weekend in Antwerp.<\/p>\n Congrats to Adam Peaty on winning the ZUMO Performance of the Week!<\/p>\n
