The short course prelims \/ long course finals meet had some fast swims on Friday and Saturday as the TAC Titans team racked up a win from\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Hook\u00a0<\/strong>on the final night. Hook won the 200 IM with a 2:15.26, winning well in front of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/mors-abby-arens-stays-local-verbally-commits-to-nc-state-for-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Abby Arens\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>of the Marlins of Raleigh at 2:18.11.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/triangleaquatics.org\/event_results\/Mar05-20\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SPEEDO SECTIONALS CARY &#8211; RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Titans also got a win from\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 backstroke as the 15-year-old won with a 2:14.32, five seconds ahead of\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Sowards\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.11) of Swim MAC Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>The most impressive swim of the night perhaps came from 23-year-old\u00a0<strong>Sam Stewart\u00a0<\/strong>of the YMCA Hub Fins, who won the 200 IM with a 1:59.80. He finished five seconds ahead of second place finisher\u00a0<strong>Baylor Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>of Swim MAC Carolina at 2:04.97. The time for Stewart was actually two seconds slower than his season best time of 1:57.76 which puts him as the second fastest American performer in 2020 behind\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>at 1:56.83.<\/p>\n<p>22-year-old Olympic Trials finalist\u00a0<strong>Katrina Konopka<\/strong>, who is training in North Carolina after going to college at the University of Arizona, won the 100 freestyle at 57.37 after swimming a 49.44 in the short course heats. Konopka won by nearly a second over\u00a0<strong>Brooke Zettel\u00a0<\/strong>(58.31) of the TAC Titans.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nyls Korstanje\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 freestyle with a 50.01, just missing that barrier of a 49. Korstanje represents the Netherlands internationally, but is also in his sophomore season at NC State. He finished ahead of Sam Stewart (50.67), and is just 16 days away from the NCAAs in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Moore\u00a0<\/strong>of the Marlins of Raleigh also won the 200 backstroke with a 2:03.54.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 Speedo Sectionals Cary meet from North Carolina concluded on Sunday night.
