The 2020 Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships opened its final night with Saturday\u2019s finals session from Federal Way, Washington.<\/p>\n

Cal had a strong fourth day and lead by more than 150 points heading into the final day, building a lead too big to catch, claiming another Pac-12 title by nearly 300 points. It was the third championship in a row for Cal.<\/p>\n

Dave Durden<\/strong>‘s Golden Bears put 12 in the finals Saturday night to roll to victory. Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> won his third event of the meet, taking the title in the 100 free on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It also marks the final Pac-12 Championship meet day for USC coach Dave Salo<\/strong>, who is stepping down<\/a> after the season.<\/p>\n

Scholar Athlete<\/h3>\n
USC senior Henry Fusaro<\/strong> was named the Pac-12 Men’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2019-20 season, the Conference office announced on Saturday. The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports the Pac-12 sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes who are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.<\/p>\n
Fusaro boasts a 3.71 GPA and is double majoring in Law, History and Culture & Philosophy, Politics, and Law. He is a two-time College Swimming & Diving Coaches Associate (CSCAA) Scholar-All-American and a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team honoree (2018).<\/p>\n
The Scottsdale, Ariz., native is a five-time NCAA Zone E Championships finalist and a two-time NCAA All-American honorable mention selection. The 2017 Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year owns a Pac-12 title in the 3-meter (2018) and is a two-time Pac-12 spring-board runner-up on 1-meter (2018) and 3-meter (2017). Fusaro has earned 22 regular-season dual-meet and invitational first-place finishes.<\/p>\n
Pac-12 Men’s Championships: 1650 Free<\/h3>\n
Arizona junior Brooks Fail<\/strong> bested the field by seven seconds to take the 1650 free title to start the final night of competition.<\/p>\n
Cal junior Sean Grieshop<\/strong> dropped six seconds from his seed time to finish second in 14:51.09, to hold off Stanford senior Grant Shoults<\/strong> (14:52.09) by a second.<\/p>\n
Stanford\u2019s Matthew Hirschberger<\/strong> took fourth in 14:52.37, followed by Arizona State\u2019s Benjamin<\/strong> Olszewski<\/strong> (14:52.84), Stanford\u2019s James Murphy<\/strong> (14:55.70), Utah\u2019s Rahiti De Vos<\/strong> (14:57.07) and Utah\u2019s Tyler Klawiter<\/strong> (15:03.75).<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships: 200 Backstroke<\/h3>\n
Cal junior Daniel Carr<\/strong> dropped nearly two seconds from his prelims time to surge to the 200 backstroke title. He finished in 1:37.87 to hold off the field by more than a second.<\/p>\n
It also led a 1-3-4-6-8 finish for the Golden Bears in the event.<\/p>\n
Arizona State senior Zachary Poti<\/strong> finished second in 1:39.31, just ahead of Cal\u2019s Hugo Gonzalez<\/strong> (1:39.66) and Bryce Mefford<\/strong> (1:41.09).<\/p>\n
Arizona senior Thomas Anderson<\/strong> finished fifth in 1:41.51, in front of another Mefford, Colby<\/strong> Mefford<\/strong>, who finished in 1:42.00.<\/p>\n

Cal junior Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> made it 3-for-3 with individual Pac-12 titles by winning the 100 free in 41.45.<\/p>\n
Hoffer won the 50 free and 100 butterfly earlier in the meet.<\/p>\n
Arizona State junior Carter Swift f<\/strong>inished second in 42.05, just ahead of Arizona\u2019s Marin<\/strong> Ercegovic<\/strong> (42.31) and ASU teammates Jack Dolan<\/strong> (42.32) and Evan Carlson<\/strong> (42.37).<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships: 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n
Cal sophomore Reece Whitley<\/strong> made it a breaststroke sweep. One night after winning the 100 breast, he crushed the field in the 200 breast, winning in 1:49.85.<\/p>\n
He was the only swimmer to go sub-1:50. For that matter, he was the only swimmer to go sub-1:51, 1:52 or 1:53.<\/p>\n
Stanford sophomore Daniel Roy<\/strong> finished second in 1:53.06, just ahead of teammate Brennan<\/strong> Pastorek<\/strong> (1:53.40).<\/p>\n
Arizona junior Sam Iida<\/strong> took fourth in 1:54.06 ahead of another Stanford swimmer, Hanke Poppe<\/strong>, who finished in 1:54.19.<\/p>\n
Cal\u2019s Karl Arvidsson<\/strong> took sixth in 1:54.47, followed by Stanford\u2019s Jonathan Cook<\/strong> (1:55.11) and Cal\u2019s Jason Louser<\/strong> (1:56.07).<\/p>\n

Cal senior Zheng Quah<\/strong> put the exclamation point on his stellar meet by winning the 200 butterfly, leading a 1-2 Cal finish.<\/p>\n
Quah finished in 1:49.16 to finish ahead of teammate Trenton Julian (1:40.78).<\/p>\n
Arizona went 3-4-6-7 behind Brooks Fail<\/strong> (1:42.93), who won the mile earlier in the session, Etay<\/strong> Gurevich<\/strong> (1:43.18), Brendan Meyer<\/strong> (1:43.42) and Brooks Taner<\/strong> (1:44.05).<\/p>\n
Stanford\u2019s Alex Liang<\/strong> was fifth in 1:43.35. Arizona State\u2019s Alexander Colson<\/strong> was eighth in 1:45.48.<\/p>\n
