The 2020 Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships continued with the first prelims session on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Cal is the defending champion and got off to a strong start with an win in the 800 free relay, but disqualified the 400 medley relay, as did Arizona State. With diving having happened last week,\u00a0 that leaves USC in first place ahead of Stanford and Cal is stunningly in sixth heading into Day 2.<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships: 500 Free<\/h3>\n
Stanford senior Grant Shoults<\/strong> put together a nice and easy 500 free to take the top seed. His time of 4:15.32 was three seconds slower than his seed time, but enough to take the top seed and likely have some more left in the tank for finals.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Arizona State freshman Julian Hill<\/strong> dropped eight seconds from his seed time to take the second seed in prelims in 4:15.62.<\/p>\n
Arizona\u2019s Brooks Fail<\/strong> took the third seed in 4:15.80, while Cal\u2019s Trenton Julian<\/strong> was fourth in 4:16.44.<\/p>\n
Arizona State\u2019s Benjamin Olszewski<\/strong> took the fifth seed (4:17.30), followed by Cal\u2019s Calvin David<\/strong> (4:17.98), Sean Grieshop<\/strong> (4:17.99) and Arizona State\u2019s Liam Bresette<\/strong> (4:18.04).<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships: 200 IM<\/h3>\n
Cal took four of the top six seeds in the 200 IM, including the top two.<\/p>\n
Daniel Carr<\/strong> took the top spot in 1:42.15, ahead of teammate Zheng Quah<\/strong> (1:43.78).<\/p>\n
Stanford\u2019s Brennan Pastorek<\/strong> was third in 1:44.41, ahead of Cal\u2019s Bryce Mefford<\/strong> (1:44.7). Stanford\u2019s Alex Liang<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 1:44.49, followed by Cal\u2019s Reece Whitley<\/strong> (1:44.53).<\/p>\n
Arizona\u2019s Etay Gurevich<\/strong> (1:44.57) and Sam Iida<\/strong> (1:44.68) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

Pac-12 Men\u2019s Championships: 50 Free<\/h3>\n
Cal made it two events in a row getting the top two seeds. As expected Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> and Pawel<\/strong> Sendyk<\/strong> took the top two spots.<\/p>\n
Hoffer, the defending NCAA champion, took the top seed in 19.10, while reigning All-American\u00a0 Sendyk took the second spot in 19.15.<\/p>\n
Arizona State freshman Jack Dolan<\/strong> took the third seed (19.40) just head of Cal\u2019s Michael Jensen<\/strong> (19.41).<\/p>\n
Arizona State\u2019s Evan Carlson<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 19.48, followed by USC\u2019s Nikola Miljenic<\/strong> (19.53), Arizona\u2019s Marin Ercegovic<\/strong> (19.56) and Arizona State\u2019s Cody Bybee<\/strong> (19.64).<\/p>\n
