For anyone that\u2019s been banned once, potentially it\u2019s a mistake. The odds are yeah \u2013 you could have taken any supplement or whatever.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019re looking at it twice \u2013 you\u2019re a fool. I can\u2019t really see anybody being not guilty if you smash a vial: that\u2019s really the end of it, that\u2019s the end of the conversation.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-sun-yangs-athletes-champion-claim-is-an-absolute-joke\/\">Peaty has long been outspoken about Sun<\/a> and doping in sport in general and last summer stated he would be &#8220;hung, drawn and quartered by noon&#8221; if he was accused of being involved in such an incident that has now seen the Chinese banned.<\/p>\n<p>His British team-mates <strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> and <strong>James Guy<\/strong> have both been directly affected by Sun, in and out of the water.<\/p>\n<p>Scott, who has said he &#8220;fully supports and respects&#8221; the CAS decision, was subject to Sun&#8217;s ire at last year&#8217;s World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, after the Briton refused to share the medal podium following the 200m freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Guy won the world 200 free title in Kazan, Russia, ahead of Sun as well as taking 400 silver behind the Chinese in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>A year later at the Rio Olympics, Guy finished fourth over 200m behind Sun, <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> and <strong>Conor Dwyer,\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/conor-dwyer-suspended-20-months-after-testing-positive-for-anabolic-agent-out-of-olympic-trials\/\">who retired in October\u00a02019 following three failed drugs tests<\/a> in November and December 2018 after he\u00a0had testosterone pellets inserted in his body.<\/p>\n<p>Guy said on social media: &#8220;The truth always comes out&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Peaty, who also said dopers &#8220;should hang their heads in shame&#8221;, added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;If I was racing a guy who was beating me or on my tail and he had that kind of thing I would be mad. 100%.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019d do a little bit more protesting than the rest of them. It\u2019s not acceptable at all: sport doesn\u2019t have a place for that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s not just about that person \u2013 it\u2019s about all dopers. It seems to be every three months or every other month or month that people are coming out with doping violations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Have more control of what you put in your body firstly \u2013 if it is your intention to cheat then you\u2019re ruining the sport for everyone and it\u2019s just so selfish, it\u2019s just ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think athletes do need more representation in terms of the union being in the express lane before Tokyo and getting that sorted to see what that can do.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So too does the eight-time world champion call for even more serious penalties, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Again sport unfortunately is tainted by these people who choose to cheat and will get found out eventually. If you look at the people who have been caught for doping \u2013 it doesn\u2019t matter if they\u2019re caught (after) two years, 10 years, 15 years \u2013 those samples are always there. As new methods of detection get better then they\u2019re going to get caught eventually, aren\u2019t they?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately its too late \u2013 they\u2019ve cashed out really.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think until sport starts treating doping as fraud you\u2019ll have people just looking at it and think I don\u2019t care, I\u2019m just going to win anyway. And that is the selfish nature of the human race.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are not enough deterrents to stop them doing it \u2013 that\u2019s the way it is I guess unless you say \u2018I\u2019m going to take your house\u2019 or have people suing you, you\u2019re not going to stop those people from doing it or otherwise it would have stopped by now.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Peaty has welcomed the news of Sun Yang&#8216;s eight-year ban after the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced their verdict.
