The 2020 Oregon 6A State Swimming Championships took place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Tualatin Aquatics Center in Beaverton, Ore.<\/p>\n

Aloha senior\u00a0Kaitlyn Dobler\u00a0<\/strong>stole the show after she broke the overall National High School record in the 100 breast<\/a> with a jaw-dropping 58.35, which also crushed her own Class 6A and Oregon state record. The Jesuit boy’s 4×50 medley relay touched in 1:33.42 for a new class and state standard.<\/p>\n

Jesuit swept the team titles, as the girls won with a final score of 110.5 over Sunset (89.5) and the boys clinched the team title with 124 points over Lakeridge (68).<\/p>\n

Jesuit began their winnings ways as\u00a0Isabella Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>(26.52),\u00a0Emma Matous\u00a0<\/strong>(30.05),\u00a0Fay Marie Lustria\u00a0<\/strong>(25.55), and\u00a0Alaina Pitton\u00a0<\/strong>(24.04) won the opening 4×50 medley relay in 1:46.16.<\/p>\n

The first of Dobler’s records came in the 50 free, where she won her third-straight state title in a quick 22.30 to eclipse her own Class 6A and overall state mark of 22.35 she set at this meet in 2018. The future USC Trojan<\/a> then blasted a 58.35 to win the 100 breast for the fourth-consecutive year en route to breaking her own class and state mark of 58.75 she set during prelims. That swim also set a new National High School standard<\/a> and moved her to fourth all-time in 17-18 history.<\/p>\n

Sunset\u2019s\u00a0Tia Lindsay\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 IM for the second-consecutive season, throwing down a time of 2:01.46 to hold off Lustria who took a close second in 2:01.56. Lustria then flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, getting her hands to the wall in 54.93 to win by nearly two seconds.<\/p>\n

West Linn freshman\u00a0Helena Jones\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted to the gold medal in the 100 free, finishing in a quick 50.83 to take down defending champion Wallace who wound up second in 51.57. McMinnville’s Sara Garcia Lacueva\u00a0<\/strong>powered home in the 500 free, dropping nearly eight seconds from her prelims time to win the event in 5:02.53.<\/p>\n

Mountainside’s Jessica Maeda\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, stopping the clock in a final time of 1:50.41, while St. Mary’s Academy’s\u00a0Anna Rauchholz\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the gold medal in the 100 back after posting a time of 54.60 during finals.<\/p>\n

Sunset’s\u00a0Hannah Trainer\u00a0<\/strong>(24.59),\u00a0Zoey Dodson\u00a0<\/strong>(24.54),\u00a0Kiki Lindsay\u00a0<\/strong>(24.61), and T. Lindsay combined to win the 4×50 free relay in 1:36.98, just ahead of runner-up West Linn (1:37.12). Trainer (52.92), Dodson (53.35), K. Lindsay (53.08), and T. Lindsay (50.15) joined forces again to win the 4×100 free relay in 3:29.50.<\/p>\n

Just like the girls, the Jesuit boys began their quest for the team title as the quartet of\u00a0Nick Simons\u00a0<\/strong>(23.21),\u00a0Marco Nosack\u00a0<\/strong>(25.95),\u00a0Diego Nosack\u00a0<\/strong>(23.37), and\u00a0Matthias Kreutzer\u00a0<\/strong>(20.89) won the 4×50 medley relay in 1:33.42, fast enough to break Sunset’s Class 6A and state record of 1:33.54 set in 2013.<\/p>\n

Kreutzer splashed-and-dashed his way to the gold medal in the 50 free, posting a time of 21.41 to out-touch the runner-up by one-tenth. M. Nosack, who has verbally committed to Denver<\/a>, led the charge in the 100 breast, finishing in 56.41 to win for the second season in a row.<\/p>\n

Simons later flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly after getting his hands to the wall the fastest in 50.16, and the sophomore also won the 100 back for the second-consecutive year as the only swimmer in the field to dip below the 50-second barrier.<\/p>\n

Sherwood’s\u00a0Jacob Folsom\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:39.07 as the only swimmer in the field under the 1:40-barrier. Cleveland’s\u00a0Cody Soo\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted to the gold medal in the 100 free, clocking in at 45.77 to edge out Folsom who finished second in 45.82.<\/p>\n

Central Catholic\u2019s\u00a0Kevin Keil\u00a0<\/strong>successfully defended his state title in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:48.06 to just miss the Class 6A and state record of 1:48.01 set by\u00a0Van Mathias\u00a0<\/strong>in 2018. M. Nosack finished second in 1:49.32. Keil then went on to post a three-second victory in the 500 free, dropping five seconds from his prelims swim to finish in 4:30.80.<\/p>\n

McMinnville’s\u00a0Collin Bushey\u00a0<\/strong>(21.89),\u00a0Ethan Yochum\u00a0<\/strong>(21.45),\u00a0Josiah Yuen\u00a0<\/strong>(22.03), and\u00a0Benjamin Lilly\u00a0<\/strong>(21.52) joined forces to win the 4×50 free relay in 1:26.89. Jesuit’s M. Nosack (45.96), Simons (47.00),\u00a0Chetan Chilkunda\u00a0<\/strong>(49.40), and Kreutzer (46.69) concluded the meet as champions in the 4×100 free relay with a time of 3:09.05.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
