Crescent Valley secured the team title on the girls side with 75 points ahead of West Albany (50), while the boys of Churchill won the championship crown with 53 points over West Albany (39.5).<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osaa.org\/activities\/bsw\/results?div=5A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HERE<\/a> for full results and team scores.<\/p>\n<h1>Girls Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Crescent Valley \u2013 75<br \/>\n2. West Albany \u2013 50<br \/>\n3. Silverton \u2013 32<br \/>\n4. Springfield \u2013 29<br \/>\n5. North Bend \u2013 28<\/p>\n<p>Churchill began the meet as the team of\u00a0<strong>Meg Justice\u00a0<\/strong>(29.07),\u00a0<strong>Kylie Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>(30.70), <strong>Alanah Erickson\u00a0<\/strong>(27.01), and\u00a0<strong>Kelsey Wasikowski\u00a0<\/strong>(24.35) won the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in 1:51.13.<\/p>\n<p>Wasikowski, who is only a freshman, later won the 50 free in a quick 24.68 for the first individual state title of her career. Taylorwas the first of two swimmers in the field under 60 seconds in the 100 back, reaching the wall in 57.11 to grab the gold for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Crescent Valley&#8217;s <strong>Paula Lomonaco\u00a0<\/strong>successfully defended her state title in the 200 free, cruising to the wall in 1:55.60 as the only swimmer in the field to crack the two-minute marker. She also led the charge in the 100 free for the second-consecutive season, racing to first place in 53.29.<\/p>\n<p>Crescent Valley&#8217;s <strong>Francesca Criscione\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 200 IM, dropping over four seconds from her prelims time to best the field by five seconds with a final time of 2:05.27 &#8211; just off the Class 5A mark of 2:04.99. She then went on to win the 100 fly for the second-straight season, getting her hands to the wall the quickest in 57.56.<\/p>\n<p>Maoz, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lsu-tigers-enter-2021-recruiting-game-with-verbal-from-oregon-5a-state-champion-abby-maoz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verbally committed to the LSU Tigers<\/a> beginning in the fall of 2021, highlighted the girl&#8217;s meet by posting a four-second victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.18 during finals. Her prelims time of 1:03.04 set a new Oregon Class 5A record.<\/p>\n<p>Crescent Valley freshman\u00a0<strong>Vivi Criscione\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 5:12.84 to win the 500 free, finishing 10 seconds ahead of the field. Springfield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mckenzie Galloway\u00a0<\/strong>(26.17),\u00a0<strong>Veronika Perry\u00a0<\/strong>(34.90),\u00a0<strong>Sydney Simmons\u00a0<\/strong>(20.39), and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Karr\u00a0<\/strong>(23.81) combined to win the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:45.27.<\/p>\n<p>Crescent Valley sealed their overall team championship crown as the quartet of\u00a0<strong>Viola Teglassy\u00a0<\/strong>(57.66), F. Criscione (52.82), V. Criscione (56.85), and Lomonaco (53.05) won the 4&#215;100 free relay in a combined time of 3:40.38, three seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<h1>Boys Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Churchill \u2013 53<br \/>\n2. West Albany \u2013 39.5<br \/>\n3. Crescent Valley \u2013 30<br \/>\n4. North Bend \u2013 28.5<br \/>\n5. Hood River \u2013 24<\/p>\n<p>North Bend&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mavrick Macalino\u00a0<\/strong>(26.22),\u00a0<strong>Craig Hoefs\u00a0<\/strong>(26.59),\u00a0<strong>Tucker Hood\u00a0<\/strong>(24.81), and <strong>Adam Wood\u00a0<\/strong>(22.71) began the boys&#8217; meet by winning the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in a combined time of 1:40.33. Hood River&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Clayton Lee\u00a0<\/strong>(22.75),\u00a0<strong>Connor McElwee\u00a0<\/strong>(22.55),\u00a0<strong>Luke Southall\u00a0<\/strong>(22.67), and\u00a0<strong>David Hecksel\u00a0<\/strong>(21.64) joined forces to win the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:29.61, only .02 ahead of West Albany (1:29.63).<\/p>\n<p>Crater&#8217;s <strong>Marcus Reyes-Gentry\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, dropping over two second from his prelims time to finish five seconds ahead of the field in 1:43.07. Springfield&#8217;s <strong>Diego Reyes\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 breast for the second-straight year in 56.92, just shy of the 56.78 he posted in prelims.<\/p>\n<p>South Albnay&#8217;s <strong>Nathaniel Young\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 1:59.61 to win the 200 IM as the only swimmer in the field to break the two-minute barrier. Ashland\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Chris Frownfelt\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to a win in the 100 back, finishing three seconds ahead of the runner-up in 52.72.<\/p>\n<p>Churchill&#8217;s <strong>Charley Page-Jones\u00a0<\/strong>successfully defended his state title in the 50 free, splashing-and-dashing his way to the wall in a quick 21.18, just off his prelims time of 20.98. Shortly after, he was back in the water as he flew to the top of the podium for the second-straight year in the 100 fly, finishing in 49.36.<\/p>\n<p>It was a tight race in the 100 free, as Redmond&#8217;s <strong>Ryan Konop\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted his way to the gold medal with a time of 47.67 to edge out runner-up <strong>Luke Milburn\u00a0<\/strong>of West Albany&#8217;s 47.69. It was another close one in the 500 free, as West Albany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dylan Hayes\u00a0<\/strong>won in 4:50.25 to out-touch\u00a0<strong>Finn Conaway <\/strong>of Churchill (4:50.33).<\/p>\n<p>Churchill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brennen Whipp\u00a0<\/strong>(51.94), Conoway (51.50),\u00a0<strong>Davis Wingard\u00a0<\/strong>(50.56), and Page-Jones concluded the meet and clinched their overall team title by winning the 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:18.97.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 Oregon 5A State Swimming Championships took place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Tualatin Aquatics Center in Beaverton, Ore.
