The 2020 Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships kicked off its final day at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n

Ohio State leads the team standings heading into the final day with Michigan within striking distance and Indiana and Northwestern putting together strong meets.<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships: 200 Backstroke<\/h3>\n
Wisconsin\u2019s Beata Nelson<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:50.55, a second off of her seed time, but still three seconds ahead of the field. It broke the Iowa pool record.<\/p>\n
Penn State\u2019s Madison Hart<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:53.42, followed by Northwestern\u2019s Emma Lepisova<\/strong> (1:53.84), Minnesota\u2019s Teryn Waddell<\/strong> (1:54.15), Michigan\u2019s Chloe Hicks<\/strong> (1:54.47), Ohio State\u2019s Kristen<\/strong> Romano<\/strong> (1:54.80), Iowa\u2019s Emilia Sansome<\/strong> (1:54.86) and Northwestern\u2019s Krystal Lara<\/strong> (1:55.01).<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships: 100 Freestyle<\/h3>\n
Michigan took the top two seeds in the 100 freestyle, but Ohio State stacked the final with five swimmers as the event is nearly completely the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.<\/p>\n
Michigan\u2019s Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> took the top seed in the event in 48.02, breaking the Iowa pool record. She finished just ahead of teammate Daria Pyshnenko<\/strong> (48.38), who tied for the second seed with Ohio State\u2019s Freya Rayner<\/strong> (48.38).<\/p>\n
The Buckeyes also have the 4-6-7-8 spots with Amy Fulmer<\/strong> (48.44), Taylor Petrak<\/strong> (48.73), Georgia<\/strong> White<\/strong> (48.76) and Lucija Jurkovic Perisa<\/strong> (48.87).<\/p>\n
Wisconsin\u2019s Lillie Hosack<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 48.68, the only non Michigan or Ohio State swimmer in the finals.<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships: 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n
Indiana doesn\u2019t have Lilly King<\/strong> anymore, but the Hoosiers are still a force in the breaststroke.<\/p>\n
Indiana\u2019s Noelle Peplowski<\/strong> (2:08.13) and Emily Weiss<\/strong> (2:08.24) took the top two seeds in the 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n
It was also a big event for Northwestern as the Wildcats put three in the final. Hanna Brunzell<\/strong> took the third seed (2:08.76), while Calypso Sheridan<\/strong> was fourth (2:08.93) and Sophie Angus<\/strong> took the sixth seed (2:10.22).<\/p>\n
Ohio State\u2019s Hanna Gresser<\/strong> took the fifth seed (2:10.16), while Minnesota\u2019s Lindsey Kozelsky<\/strong> was seventh (2:10.24) and Michigan\u2019s Miranda Tucker<\/strong> was eighth (2:10.39).<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships: 200 Butterfly<\/h3>\n
Michigan\u2019s Olivia Carter<\/strong> turned in a fast swim to close out the prelims session. The sophomore took the top seed in the 200 butterfly in 1:53.99, breaking the pool record.<\/p>\n
The Wolverines have three of the top four seeds heading into finals as Vanessa Krause<\/strong> is third (1:55.44) and Victoria Kwan<\/strong> is fourth (1:55.46).<\/p>\n
Northwestern\u2019s Miriam Guevera<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:55.17.<\/p>\n
Ohio State\u2019s Kathrin Demler<\/strong> sits fifth heading into finals at 1:56.06, followed by Indiana\u2019s Carla<\/strong> Gildersleeve<\/strong> (1:56.58), Nebraska\u2019s Madison Coughlen (<\/strong>1:56.65) and Northwestern\u2019s Ally Larson<\/strong> (1:56.92).<\/p>\n
