It&#8217;s also a Greensboro Aquatic Center record.<\/p>\n<p>UVA took the lead through <strong>Caroline Gmelich<\/strong> in backstroke, but they had to play catch-up after <strong>Alexis Wenger\u2019s<\/strong> breaststroke leg. <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> was up to the task to get the Cavaliers close, and Hill sealed the job, splitting 21.28 on the anchor to the 21.48 by Perry.<\/p>\n<p>The time undercuts the 2017 championship squad from NC State (1:34.89) and is quicker than the time posted by NC State\u2019s 2019 foursome that was the conference record (1:34.52). NC State\u2019s foursome of <strong>Katharine Berkoff, Sophie Hansson, Sirena Rowe<\/strong> and Perry finished in 1:34.38, a program record.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville snuck past Duke to third place in 1:35.87 on the power of <strong>Casey Franz\u2019s<\/strong> 21.15 free split for an A cut. <strong>Ashlyn Schoof, Maria Astashkina<\/strong> and <strong>Grace Oglesby<\/strong> comprised the Cardinals&#8217; squad. Both of the top two teams attained A cuts for NCAAs. Padden had the fastest split of the race in 1:42.66, swimming second for UVA to get the Cavaliers clean water. It&#8217;s UVA&#8217;s 13th straight title in the event and the fourth-fastest time in school history.<\/p>\n<p>NC State (<strong>Kathleen Moore, Kylee Alons, Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> and<strong> Julia Poole<\/strong>) were second in 6:59.73, which ties a program record set in 2017.
