After the drama of the opening relay, Virginia led wire-to-wire over NC State in the 800 free relay, the squad of Kyla Valls, Paige Madden, Margaret Nelson<\/strong> and Megan Moroney<\/strong> winning in 6:55.66. Both of the top two teams attained A cuts for NCAAs. Padden had the fastest split of the race in 1:42.66, swimming second for UVA to get the Cavaliers clean water. It’s UVA’s 13th straight title in the event and the fourth-fastest time in school history.<\/p>\nNC State (Kathleen Moore, Kylee Alons, Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> and Julia Poole<\/strong>) were second in 6:59.73, which ties a program record set in 2017.
