Vanderbilt University              90<\/pre>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Using a tremendous second leg from senior\u00a0<strong>Claire Fisch<\/strong>, Auburn won the women&#8217;s 200 free relay to open up the second night of the 2020 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships in their home pool. Fisch split a 20.99 as she paved the way for freshman\u00a0<strong>AJ Kutsch\u00a0<\/strong>(21.15) and senior\u00a0<strong>Robyn Clevenger\u00a0<\/strong>(21.62) on the back half to give the Tigers the 1:25.41 victory and a new SEC meet record. Senior\u00a0<strong>Julie Meynen\u00a0<\/strong>(21.65) led off the Tigers&#8217; relay.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee got off to a quick start with\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>leading off in 21.15, not far off the NCAA record of 20.8 set earlier this season. The team of\u00a0<strong>Tyler Sesvold\u00a0<\/strong>(19.33),\u00a0<strong>Zane Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>(18.60),\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Berneburg\u00a0<\/strong>(19.09) and\u00a0<strong>Sam DiSette\u00a0<\/strong>(18.98) won the title ahead of Florida (1:16.33) and Texas A&amp;M (1:16.57).<\/p>\n<p>Alabama doesn&#8217;t have the depth to compete for the team title but they have the sprint relays that will keep them near the top.<\/p>\n<p>Florida&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Eric Friese\u00a0<\/strong>(19.60),\u00a0<strong>Kieran Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(18.98),\u00a0<strong>Will Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(18.66) and\u00a0<strong>Isaac Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(19.09) finished in second and nearly stole the relay from lane seven. She finished ahead of Kentucky&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ali Galyer\u00a0<\/strong>(4:38.40), who swam on the outside in lane 1.<\/p>\n<p>The race was dominated by the outside lanes as Alabama sophomore\u00a0<strong>Kensey McMahon\u00a0<\/strong>broke 4:40 for the first time from lane 7 at 4:38.66 to finish third.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Peyton Palsha\u00a0<\/strong>(4:39.41) finished in fourth place thanks to a great last 50. The time lowered the NCAA record set last season by\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas (4:08.19) and also took down\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>American record of 4:07.25 set in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/floridagators.com\/sports\/mens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\/kieran-smith\/13284\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith<\/a> finished ahead of Texas A&amp;M junior\u00a0<strong>Mark Theall\u00a0<\/strong>(4:10.77) and Florida teammate\u00a0<strong>Bobby Finke\u00a0<\/strong>(4:10.86).<\/p>\n<p>Kieran Smith led from start to finish and used an incredible last three 50&#8217;s to get under the American record. Small won as a freshman in 2017 and as a junior in 2019. She held off freshman\u00a0<strong>Zoie Hartman\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.05) of Georgia, who looked to pull the upset in her first year at SECs.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky senior\u00a0<strong>Asia Seidt<\/strong> was the leader at the halfway point and she wound up third with a 1:53.70. The time broke her own SEC meet record that she set in leading off the 200 free relay (21.15) and also put her second all-time behind\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>(20.90). Brown beat Arkansas senior\u00a0<strong>Anna Hopkin<\/strong>, who earlier in the night swam the fastest relay split in history at 20.2, as the Brit was second at 21.44.<\/p>\n<p>This was Brown&#8217;s third straight SEC title in the event.<\/p>\n<p>The four seniors in the field swept the top four spots with Auburn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Julie Meynen\u00a0<\/strong>(21.54) and\u00a0<strong>Claire Fisch\u00a0<\/strong>(21.60) finishing in third and fourth.
