Humble Kingwood Park showed their impressive depth to clinch their fifth overall state title in program history &#8211; and their first since 2015 &#8211; with a final score of 215. Frisco Wakeland finished second with 156 points as San Antonio Alamo Heights was third with a score of 147.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uiltexas.org\/tournament-results\/swimming-diving\/2020\/5a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HERE<\/a> for full results and team scores.<\/p>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Humble Kingwood Park &#8211; 215<br \/>\n2. Frisco Wakeland &#8211; 156<br \/>\n3. San Antonio Alamo Heights &#8211; 147<br \/>\n4. Austin Johnson &#8211; 131.5<br \/>\n5. Georgetown &#8211; 130.5<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio Alamo Heights&#8217; <strong>Connor Foote <\/strong>(22.31), <strong>McCoy Patterson <\/strong>(26.59), <strong>Andrew Crosley <\/strong>(21.97), and <strong>Cameron Chan <\/strong>(21.93) began the meet by winning the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in 1:32.80, about three seconds ahead of runner-up Frisco Wakeland (1:35.35). Humble Kingwood Park took a close third in 1:35.57. SAAH&#8217;s winning time lowered their own Class 5A record of 1:33.16 they set during prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Aledo\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Elijah\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Sohn\u00a0<\/strong>successfully defended his state title in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:37.02 to win by over a full second en route to breaking\u00a0<strong>Grant Reed&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>Class 5A record of 1:37.19 set in 2017. <strong>Corby Furrer\u00a0<\/strong>of Georgetown was the runner-up for the second year in a row after posting a time of 1:38.25 to tie with Austin Johnson&#8217;s <strong>Juan Ceresa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For the second-consecutive season, <strong>Jed Michael Jones\u00a0<\/strong>of Lucas Lovejoy earned gold in the 200 IM after finishing in 1:48.62 as the only swimmer in the race under the 1:50-mark. His time broke the previous 5A mark of 1:48.68 set by\u00a0<strong>Hudson Smith <\/strong>in 2017. Friendswood\u2019s <strong>Max Hardt\u00a0<\/strong>raced to second in 1:50.26 while Georgetown&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Landon Alarcon\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:52.05.<\/p>\n<p>CC Flour Bluff&#8217;s <strong>Kraig Bray\u00a0<\/strong>splashed-and-dashed his way to the top of the podium in the 50 free, racing to the wall in a quick 20.51. Lamar Fulshear&#8217;s <strong>Jake Litchfield\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 20.60 while Boerne Champion&#8217;s <strong>Logan Sandidge\u00a0<\/strong>also got under 21 seconds in 20.97 for third.<\/p>\n<p>Frisco Wakeland&#8217;s <strong>Conor McKenna\u00a0<\/strong>led the charge in the 100 fly as the first of three swimmers to dip under the 50-second marker, doing so in a winning time of 48.21. Fort Worth Boswell&#8217;s <strong>Hunter Boniface\u00a0<\/strong>(48.68) and Crosley (49.77) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Not too long after leading off the winning medley relay, Foote was back in the water to win a nail-bitting 100 free in a swift 44.75. It was the meet&#8217;s closest race as the top three finishers were only separated by 0.15: 50 free champion Bray was second in 44.81 while 200 free winner Sohn was third in 44.90.<\/p>\n<p>After tying for third in the 200 free, Ceresa had the gold all to himself in the 500 free after dropping over seven seconds from his morning time to win in 4:27.21. Jones raced to second in 4:29.69 while defending champion Furrer ultimately ended up third in 4:30.29.<\/p>\n<p>Humble Kingwood Park&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brendan Flaherty\u00a0<\/strong>(21.32),\u00a0<strong>Frankie Zelasko\u00a0<\/strong>(20.55),\u00a0<strong>Christian Ripp\u00a0<\/strong>(21.16), and\u00a0<strong>Braden Hunt\u00a0<\/strong>(21.05) combined to win the 4&#215;50 free relay in a final time of 1:24.08. Their time broke San Antonio Alamo Heights&#8217;s 5A mark of 1:24.69 set in 2011. Austin Johnson was a close second in 1:24.34 while Frisco Wakeland took third in 1:26.19.<\/p>\n<p>Mansfield Legacy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Eric<\/strong> <strong>Stelmar<\/strong>, who finished second in the 100 back a season ago, got himself the gold medal this season after powering home in a final time of 48.81. Foote was the runner-up, also getting under 50 seconds in a time of 49.89 as Nacogdoches&#8217; <strong>Jackson Castleberry\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 50.63.<\/p>\n<p>Not too long after grabbing silver in the 200 IM, Hardt swam away with the gold in the 100 breast once he got his hands to the wall first in 55.69 &#8211; only 0.02 off the class record. Austin McCallum&#8217;s <strong>Alex Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>raced to second place in 56.26 and Henderson&#8217;s <strong>Mark Eberhard\u00a0<\/strong>collected a third-place finish with a time of 57.18.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery Lake Creek\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mason Williams\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter board for the second-straight season, posting a final score of 489.10 for the win. Second went to Conroe Grand Oaks&#8217; <strong>Peyton Donald<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>with 480.30 points and Lubbock Coronado\u2019s <strong>Rhett Hensley\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a total score of 473.55.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Logan Rushing\u00a0<\/strong>(46.71), Zelasko (45.66),\u00a0<strong>Tyler Scott\u00a0<\/strong>(46.54), and\u00a0Hunt (46.27) teamed up again to give Humble Kingwood Park another relay victory after winning the 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:05.18, only hundredths shy of the class record..
