She\u2019s long been involved in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uc.utoronto.ca\/alumni-influence\/cindy-yelle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">health-based philanthropy<\/a> as the President and CEO of Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Foundation and the Senior VP at the SickKids Foundation. She spearheaded the raising of $100 million through the \u201cWhere Incredible Happens,\u201d campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs someone who has lived the life of a high-performance athlete, I understand the importance of supporting current and next generation athletes and coaches with the funds they need to succeed on the field of play,\u201d Yelle said <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/press\/cindy-yelle-named-ceo-of-the-canadian-olympic-foundation\/?utm_source=ENGLISH+MEDIA&amp;utm_campaign=ae2e6bfb19-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_02_13_02_45&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_2486048043-ae2e6bfb19-310907629\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a press release<\/a>. \u201cOur athletes and the Olympic Movement unite us and they make us believe in our own potential. It doesn\u2019t matter where we are from, sport is something that brings us all together in such a beautiful and uniquely Canadian way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the Canadian Olympic Foundation, Yelle will oversee fundraising to support athletes in the high-performance program, with an eye toward creating ambassadors of healthy living across the country. Fellow Olympians <strong>Charmaine Crooks, Jeff Glass, Steve Podborski<\/strong> and <strong>Mark Tewksbury<\/strong> also sit on the foundation\u2019s board.<\/p>\n<p>Cindy Yelle captained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sports.org\/cindy-ounpuu-swimming-spf80719.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Canadian delegation to the<\/a> 1986 Commonwealth Games, finaling in both breaststroke events.
