Terry Bassett (USA Diving)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Terry Bassett<\/strong>, the Chief Executive Officer of USA Diving<\/a>, has submitted his resignation from his post, the governing body announced. According to a press release, which was signed by David Gascon<\/strong>, the Chairman of USA Diving\u2019s Board of Directors, the resignation of Bassett was connected to the fact that he had lost \u201cthe confidence of the Board of Directors and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n

A little more than five months shy of the start of the 2020 Olympic Games<\/strong> in Tokyo, and with the United States Diving Trials set for June, a search has been initiated for Bassett\u2019s replacement. While that process unfolds, the duties of Bassett\u2019s position will be handled by team members within USA Diving.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur very capable staff and High-Performance Team continue to perform at an outstanding level,\u201d the organization said in its statement. \u201cAll upcoming spring and summer events remain a top priority and will continue as planned. USA Diving is committed to fielding the best Olympic Team that we can produce at Trials. The NBC coverage of our Trials and the planning for the surrounding events also continue as planned.<\/p>\n

\u201cUSA Diving has recently undergone significant changes in governance and oversight responsibilities and this progress is continuing without interruption. The Board assures you that it is completely focused on doing everything necessary to provide the best environments and opportunities for our athletes, coaches, and members. Additionally, the Board has designated a management committee of the Board to oversee and support the operations of USA Diving.\u201d<\/p>\n

USA Diving noted that it informed the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee of Bassett\u2019s resignation.
