SYDNEY, Sept. 16. A senior Australian swim coach was accused today of having illicit sexual relations, Australian sources report. This makes the third such case in the past several months. Australian Swimming Executive Director Glenn Tasker said the allegations have been referred to the organization's lawyers.<\/p>\n
"We have passed the letter on to our lawyers and until we hear back from them we can't comment further," Tasker said.<\/p>\n
Australian radio reported that the unidentified coach has denied the allegations and will be allowed to continue coaching while an investigation is undertaken.<\/p>\n
The charges come just two months after another senior Australian coach, Scott Volkers, was ordered to stand trial after being charged with indecent behavior with girls under the age of 16. The incidents were allegaed to have taken place in the mid-1980s. Volkers has coached many top Australian swimmers including Olympians Susie O'Neill and Samantha Riley.<\/p>\n
The latest allegations, detailed in a letter to Australian Swimming, similarly involve charges of sexual misconduct purported to have occurred 15 years ago. <\/p>\n
