{"id":413377,"date":"2020-01-31T21:04:48","date_gmt":"2020-02-01T04:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=413377"},"modified":"2020-01-31T21:04:48","modified_gmt":"2020-02-01T04:04:48","slug":"texas-swimming-and-diving-sweeps-arizona-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-swimming-and-diving-sweeps-arizona-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Swimming and Diving Sweeps Arizona State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The No. 1 Texas men&#8217;s swimming and diving program took down Arizona State on Friday afternoon, 184-109, at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorns finished the dual with thirteen wins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Team Scores:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Men: #1 Texas 184, #13 Arizona State 109<\/li>\n<li>Women: #10 Texas 177, Arizona State 117<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/texassports_com\/documents\/2020\/1\/31\/results_texas_vs_asu.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RESULTS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Texas Swimming and Diving Press Release<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MEET NOTES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> hit 1:36.24 in the 200 Free for the fastest time in the countries this season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/after-imperfect-summer-austin-katz-hungry-for-more-success\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Austin Katz<\/strong><\/a> followed in second with a time of 1:37.40.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> picked up two wins with a 50 free tile at 19.93 and a 43.26 time in 100 Free. <strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong> took second in the 50 Free (20.30) and Kibler took third in the 100 Free with a 44.25 time.<\/li>\n<li>Freshmen <strong>Jake Foster<\/strong> and <strong>Paul Degrado<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 200 Breast with times of 2:00.68 and 2:04.55.<\/li>\n<li>In the 500 free, Texas claimed the top four spots. <strong>Alex Zettle<\/strong> (4:27.98), <strong>JohnThomas Larson<\/strong> (4:29.19) and <strong>Austin Katz<\/strong> (4:29.38) went 1-2-3, and <strong>Jack Collins<\/strong> took fourth with a 4:31.30 time.<\/li>\n<li>In the 100 Fly, <strong>Maxime Rooney<\/strong> took home the title with a time of 46.72, while <strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong> followed with a time of 47.32.<\/li>\n<li>The Longhorns won the 200-medley relay with the crew of <strong>Chris Staka<\/strong>, <strong>Caspar Corbeau<\/strong>, Jiang and Krueger. They hit the wall in a time of 1:26.47.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jordan Windle<\/strong> took home both dive competition titles. In the 3-meter competition, he won with a score of 412.43, while in the 1 meter he won with a score of 393.75.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The No. 10 Texas women&#8217;s swimming and diving team took down Arizona State, 177-117, on Friday afternoon in the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEET NOTES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alison Gibson<\/strong> claimed both diving competition titles. In the 1 meter, she scored 308.70 winning by almost 20 points. In the 3 meter, Gibson scored 393.75.<\/li>\n<li>Texas claimed both relay races. In the 200 free relay, <strong>Julia Cook<\/strong>, <strong>Bridget Semenuk<\/strong>, <strong>Kyla Leibel<\/strong>, and <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> teamed up to record a time of 1:31.82. In the 200-medley relay, Adams, <strong>Kennedy Lohman<\/strong>, <strong>Kelly Pash<\/strong>, and Cook finished in a time of 1:40.11.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kelly Pash<\/strong> recorded three individual victories. She won the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.50, the 100 fly by almost three seconds with a time of 52.75. In the 200 IM, Pash claimed the win with a time of 1:58.20.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evie Pfeifer<\/strong> claimed three second place finishes. She did the 1000 Free in a time of 9:44.26. In the 500 free, she hit the wall in the 4:47.65, and in the 200 IM, she hit the wall in a time of 2:00.10.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Julia Cook<\/strong> added two titles with a 52.74 time in the 100 back and a 1:55.81 time in the 200 back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Arizona State Press Release<\/h3>\n<p>Sun Devil swimming and diving went toe-to-toe with No. 1\/10 Texas, dropping their meet 184-109 on the men&#8217;s side and 177-117 on the women&#8217;s side on Friday afternoon at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The meet was the second-to-the-last for ASU as they slowly turn their sights toward the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>Distance freestyler <strong>Emma Nordin<\/strong> got the Sun Devil women started in the 1000 free, taking home first place in the event with a time of 9:42.97. That time is good for the current 12<sup>th<\/sup>-fastest time in Division I swimming, less than one second shy of her season-best in the event.<\/p>\n<p>She finished the afternoon racking up two more wins in the 500 and 200 free events to total three on the afternoon for the junior.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Emma Nordin was the star of the day for sure,&#8221; Bowman said. &#8220;That&#8217;s really tough swimming and we&#8217;re very proud of her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silja Kansakoski<\/strong> also put up a strong performance on the women&#8217;s side, taking the top mark in both breaststroke events.
