She also claimed a trio of victories to open the season against Notre Dame and Kentucky, and again last week against Purdue.<\/li>\n<li>Calvillo nabbed the distance sweep after winning both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle. He accomplished this feat for the third time this season after doing so in both the long course and short course competitions against Texas and Louisville earlier in the season. His winning 1,000 free time also established a new career best.<\/li>\n<li>Blaskovic walked away with two individual event victories for the first time during his senior campaign. He also led the winning 400 freestyle relay with a 43.76 opening split.<\/li>\n<li>The six-dive score (402.83) posted in the 3-meter dive by Gould broke the Ralph Wright Natatorium record.<\/li>\n<li>In total, 13 Hoosiers helped claim 17 event victories. The women defeated the Hoosiers 156.5-143.5 while the men fell 171-129.<\/p>\n<p>In all, the Cardinals won nine individual races, three relays, and three of four diving events while posting two NCAA B cuts.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the start of the meet, Louisville honored 19 seniors: <strong>Andrej Barna<\/strong>, <strong>Graham Barrett<\/strong>, <strong>Keegan Foulke<\/strong>, <strong>Jarrett Jones<\/strong>, <strong>Sasha Palazzo<\/strong>, <strong>Sean Riley<\/strong>, <strong>Derek Sander<\/strong>, <strong>Sam Steele<\/strong>, <strong>Chase Sellers<\/strong>, <strong>Avery Braunecker<\/strong>, <strong>Casey Fanz<\/strong>, <strong>Molly Fears<\/strong>, <strong>Nastja Govejsek<\/strong>, <strong>Maggie Jahns<\/strong>, <strong>Grace Oglesby<\/strong>, <strong>Brianna Price<\/strong>, <strong>Michaela Sliney<\/strong>, <strong>Sofie Underdahl<\/strong>, and <strong>Lainey Visscher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nineteen seniors, that says a lot right there. It&#8217;s a lot of great people who have done a lot, not just putting points on the board, but just what they&#8217;ve contributed to this program,&#8221; said head coach <strong>Arthur Albiero<\/strong>. &#8220;I&#8217;m proud of this group. This group of seniors certainly have done their fair share of helping the program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinal women started out the meet with a 1-2 sweep of the 200-medley relay when Grace Oglesby (26.26), <strong>Mariia Astashkina<\/strong> (28.02), <strong>Christiana Regenauer<\/strong> (24.27) and Casey Fanz anchored in 22.34 to put up the winning time of 1:40.89.<\/p>\n<p>The UofL men&#8217;s relays touched first and third. The winning time of 1:26.36 was boarded by <strong>Mitchell Whyte<\/strong> (22.36), <strong>Evgenii Somov<\/strong> (23.99), <strong>Nicolas Albiero<\/strong> (20.93) and<strong> Andrej Barna&#8217;s<\/strong> anchor of 19.08. The Cardinal B-relay saw <strong>Nikos Sofianidis<\/strong> (22.68), Sasha Palazzo (24.59), <strong>Haridi Sameh<\/strong> (21.25) and Mihalis Deliyiannis (19.78) put up a 1:28.30.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s Casey Jernberg took top honors in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:53.02. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Maria Sumida<\/strong> was second, posting a 9:56.45 and <strong>Sophie Cattermole<\/strong> was third in 10:08.89. Maddie Luther was fifth in 10:19.76. In the men&#8217;s race, Hoosier Mikey Calvillo was first to the wall with a 9:03.65. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Ilia Sibirtsev<\/strong> was second in 9:09.46 and <strong>T.C. Smith<\/strong> was fourth, boarding a 9:16.34. <strong>Hayden Curley<\/strong> went 9:17.34 and <strong>Graham Barrett<\/strong> posted a 9:22.91 to round out the Cardinal field.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 freestyle was won by Indiana&#8217;s Cora Dupre, who touched in 1:47.79. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong> was second to the wall with a 1:48.85 just ahead of teammate <strong>Diana Dunn&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:50.27 for third. <strong>Katie Schorr<\/strong> was sixth in 1:53.22. In the men&#8217;s race, Mohamed Samy Hassan won with a 1:36.98. Louisville&#8217;s <strong>Andrej Barna<\/strong> was in hot pursuit, putting up a second place time of 1:38.49. <strong>Colton Paulson<\/strong> was third in 1:38.90 and <strong>Michael Eastman<\/strong> was fourth in 1:38.52 just ahead of Cardinal senior <strong>Sam Steele&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:39.49.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ashlynn Schoof<\/strong> won the 100 back with a 55.38 out-dueling IU&#8217;s Grace Haskett&#8217;s 55.52. Cardinal <strong>Kyla Alexander<\/strong> touched in 56.78, <strong>Sofie Underdahl<\/strong> was fifth in 56.93 and <strong>Kelly Tichenor<\/strong> was sixth in 57.50. In the men&#8217;s race, IU&#8217;s Gabriel Fantoni won the event in an NCAA B-cut time of 47.16 just ahead of UofL&#8217;s <strong>Mitchell Whyte&#8217;s<\/strong> 48.20. <strong>Jack Wever<\/strong> was fourth in 49.38 and <strong>Nikos Sofianidis<\/strong> was sixth in 50.04.<\/p>\n<p>IU took the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke, led by Noelle Peplowski&#8217;s winning time of 1:01.49. <strong>Mariia Astashkina<\/strong> was the top Cardinal finisher with a third place time of 1:01.73. <strong>Morgan Friesen<\/strong> was fourth in 1:02.25 and <strong>Kaylee Wheeler<\/strong> was sixth in 1:04.33. Evgenii won the men&#8217;s 100 breast, with an NCAA B-cut time of 53.33. <strong>Sasha Palazzo<\/strong> was fifth, going 56.25, <strong>Aaron Parrott<\/strong> was seventh in 56.80 and <strong>Chase Sellers<\/strong> was eighth in 58.40 to round out the Cardinal entries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alena Kraus<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.28, just .05 seconds off the NCAA B-Cut standard. <strong>Grace Oglesby<\/strong> was third, stopping the clock at 2:00.54. UofL <strong>Carley Lowe<\/strong> was fifth in 2:03.38 and Abby Hay was sixth in 2:03.58. IU&#8217;s Brendan Burns out-dueled <strong>Nicolas Albiero<\/strong> in the 200 fly, with Burns putting up a 1:44.21 to Albiero&#8217;s 1:45.83. <strong>Daniel Sos<\/strong> was fourth, with a 1:47.14 and <strong>Jarrett Jones<\/strong> was sixth in 1:50.61.<\/p>\n<p>Cora Dupre picked up her second win with a 22.93 in the 50 freestyle. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Casey Fanz<\/strong> was second with a 23.02. <strong>Lainey Visscher<\/strong> put up a third place time of 23.05 with teammates <strong>Avery Braunecker<\/strong> posting a time of 23.49 and <strong>Nastja Govejsek<\/strong> going 23.84. Hoosier Bruno Blaskovic was the men&#8217;s winner, with a B-Cut time of 19.95. <strong>Haridi Sameh<\/strong> was the top Cardinal with a third place time of 20.36. <strong>Mihalis Deliyiannis<\/strong> was fourth with a 20.42, who just edged teammate Tanner Cummings&#8217; 20.59.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 freestyle, Cora Dupre notched her third win with a NCAA B-cut time of 49.45, out-touching a fast-closing <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong>, who went 49.99. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Christiana Regenauer<\/strong> was third with a 50.94 and <strong>Lainey Visscher<\/strong> was fifth in 51.50 and <strong>Casey Fanz<\/strong> was seventh with a 51.55. Bruno Blaskovic took the men&#8217;s event with a B-cut time of 43.52. <strong>Andrej Barna<\/strong> was the top Cardinal finisher with a fourth place time of 44.03. Michael Eastman was fifth (45.14), Tanner Cummings was sixth (45.66) and Santiago Aguilera was seventh (45.87).<br \/>\n.<br \/>\nIn the 200 backstroke, Bailey Kovac of IU took top honors as the only competitor under the two-minute mark with a 1:59.76. <strong>Sofie Underdahl<\/strong> was the top finisher for the Cardinals with a 2:00.86 to tie for second. <strong>Kyla Alexander<\/strong> was fourth in 2:01.86 and <strong>Ashlynn Schoof<\/strong> was fifth with a 2:02.83. <strong>Daniel Sos<\/strong> bested the field by a full second with a 1:45.75 for the win. <strong>Jack Wever<\/strong> was fifth with a 1:47.87 and <strong>Mitchell Whyte<\/strong> was sixth in 1:48.15.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana took the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke, led by winner Emily Weiss&#8217; 2:11.66 which was an NCAA B-cut. Morgan Friesen was the top finisher for the Cardinals with a third place time of 2:14.01. Mariia Astashkina was fourth in 2:15.11 just ahead of Diana Dunn&#8217;s fifth place finish time of 2:18.67. Evgenii Somov was into the wall first in the men&#8217;s race in a duel to the pads. Somov touched in 1:58.27 for a NCAA B-cut just .03 ahead of IU&#8217;s Zane Backes. Aaron Parrott was sixth with a time of 2:05.99 and Sasha Palazzo was seventh in 2:07.72 for the Cards.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Sumida gave the Cardinals another win with the fastest time in the 500 free when she posted a 4:50.10. Sophie Cattermole was fifth with a 4:57.16 and Maddie Luther was seventh in 5:03.90. In the men&#8217;s race, Mikey Calvillo picked up his second win with the top time of 4:24.37 just ahead of Louisville&#8217;s Ilia Sibirtsev&#8217;s 4:29.56. T.C. Smith was fourth in 4:30.59 and Hayden Curley was fifth in 4:32.94. Colton Paulson boarded a 4:36.79.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 fly, Grace Oglesby held off teammate Christiana Regenauer to win in 54.75 just ahead of Regenauer&#8217;s 54.81. Nastja Govejsek was fourth in 55.13 and Kelly Tichenor was seventh in 57.71. Nicolas Albiero was the winner in the men&#8217;s 100 fly with a 47.55. Mitchell Whyte&#8217;s 49.26 put him in fifth place just ahead of Haridi Sameh (49.42).<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s <strong>Molly Fears<\/strong> won the 1-meter diving with a score of 291.45 with teammate <strong>Michaela Sliney<\/strong> finishing fourth with a 245.85, <strong>Abbie Erickson<\/strong> was fifth with a 239.18, <strong>Abigail Andrews<\/strong> (229.35) and Breanna Price (224.10) rounded out the Cardinal entries. <strong>Daniel Pinto<\/strong> took top honors in the men&#8217;s 1-meter with a 334.20. Adam Sneden was third (302.03), Kivanc Gur was fifth (256.35), Sean Riley was sixth (254.10), <strong>Logan Smith<\/strong> was eighth (249.53) and <strong>Sky Geovanni<\/strong> wrapped up the Cards with a 229.65.<\/p>\n<p>In 3-meter diving, Molly Fears won with a 337.28 and Abigail Andrews finished second with a score of 290.70. <strong>Abbie Erickson<\/strong> was fifth with a score of 247.35 Breanna Price was eighth with a 210.90. On the men&#8217;s side, IU&#8217;s Mory Gould put up the winning score of 402.83. UofL&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Pinto<\/strong> was second, tallying a 369.15. <strong>Adam Sneden<\/strong> was fourth with a 303.83 and <strong>Kivanc Gur<\/strong> (270.45), <strong>Logan Smith<\/strong> (260.63) and <strong>Sean Riley<\/strong> (223.88) wrapped up for the Cardinals.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 individual medley had a tightly contested finish with IU&#8217;s Noelle Peplowski (2:01.56) holding off UofL&#8217;s Maria Sumida (2:01.70). Cardinals Diana Dunn was fifth in 2:03.15 and <strong>Abby Hay<\/strong> was sixth in 2:04.81. In the men&#8217;s 200 IM, Louisville&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Sos<\/strong> picked up his second win, turning in a 1:46.70, good for an NCAA B-cut time. <strong>Jarrett Jones<\/strong> was sixth (1:52.94), followed by <strong>Chase Sellers<\/strong> (1:54.91) and <strong>Grey Alarcon<\/strong> (1:55.39).<\/p>\n<p>The Louisville foursome of Arina Openysheva (50.32), Christiana Regenauer (50.27), Lainey Visscher (49.26) and Casey Fanz (49.55) combined forces to post the winning time of 3:19.40 in the women&#8217;s 400 freestyle relay.
