Meanwhile, the Johns Hopkins women are No. 4 and Carnegie Mellon is No. 12, making this an extremely intriguing meet for both the men and the women.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-swim-meets-of-the-week-virginia-women-take-down-nc-state-to-seize-control-of-acc-and-perhaps-national-title-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last week&#8217;s<\/a> Division III Meet of the Week<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Johns Hopkins men are coming off of a meet that saw the team roll past No. 17 Rowan as well as Worchester Polytechnic Institute and Swarthmore.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Brandon Stride<\/strong> cruised to a win in the 200 breast, clocking in with an NCAA B time of 2:03.37 to beat the field by more than nine seconds. Junior <strong>CJ Arena<\/strong> then beat the field in the 1650 Free with an NCAA B time of 15:59.03. Sophomore <strong>Collin Hughes<\/strong> picked up the first of his two wins by taking the top spot in the 200 Free, clocking in at 1:41.91 <strong>Maxwell Chen<\/strong> then edged out WPI&#8217;s <strong>Sidney Williams<\/strong> by three-hundredths of a second for the win (51.88). <strong>Jeff Vitek<\/strong> won the 200 fly with an NCAA B time of 1:49.88 and <strong>Matt McGough<\/strong> won the 200 back in 1:53.56.<\/p>\n<p>The Carnegie Mellon men are coming off of a ranked three-way meet where the Tartans defeated Calvin University but lost to Denison.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>John McNab<\/strong> won both distance freestyle events with a season-best time of 9:29.77 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and a time of 4:39.84 in the 500-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Aleksander Tarczynski<\/strong> won the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 50.32 and finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:52.54.<\/p>\n<p>In the Division III Meet of the Week on the women\u2019s side, both Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon have some star power.<\/p>\n<p>The Johns Hopkins women are also coming off of three wins in the same meet. Sophomore <strong>Sydney Okubo<\/strong> led the way her winning time of 56.18. Freshman <strong>Renee Liu <\/strong>placed second (56.53), both NCAA B cuts. <strong>Sonia Lin<\/strong> took the top spot in the 100 breast as she finished in 1:06.35. Freshman <strong>Kate Overbey<\/strong> then won the 200 Breast as she touched the wall in 2:24.04, beating the field by nearly seven seconds. <strong>Rebecca<\/strong> <strong>Ssengonzi<\/strong> wn the 100 fly in an NCAA B time of 56.26.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Carnegie Mellon women are coming off of a ranked victory over Calvin University and a loss to No. 1 Denison.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Taylor Brown<\/strong> won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 10:41.29. Freshman <strong>Tiffany<\/strong> <strong>Tseng<\/strong> was the top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.67 and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.31. Her last race of the day was the 100-yard butterfly which she won with a time of 58.48. Senior <strong>Jessica Chau<\/strong> won the 200-yard backstroke ahead of freshman teammate<strong> Bonnie Wang <\/strong>with a time of 2:07.12 to Wang&#8217;s 2:07.41.<\/p>\n<p>It should make for some very interesting individual races head-to-head, as well as some strong relay performances as both teams prepare for the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>That is why this matchup is the Division III Meet of the Week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon will face off in a top-10 showdown, making it the NCAA Division III Meet of the Week.
