NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>San Jose, Calif. native and talented breaststroker Skyler Smith\u00a0<\/strong>has announced her verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and will suit up for the Tar Heels as a member of the class of 2025.<\/p>\n

Smith will join\u00a0Kylie Yoder<\/strong><\/a>, Greer Pattison<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Katie Rauch\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>and\u00a0Elizabeth Sowards<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as well as twins\u00a0Olivia\u00a0<\/strong>and<\/a>\u00a0Georgia Nel<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in the fall of 2021.<\/p>\n

Smith, who owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m breast, swims year-round with Peak Swimming and most recently earned bronze in the 100 breast and took 17th in the 200 breast at Juniors West in December. This past summer, she raced to 17th in the 100m breast at Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n

A current junior at Valley Christian High School, Smith placed fifth in the 100 breast at the CIF State Championships as a sophomore and 11th in the event during her freshman season. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a three-time CIF Central Coast Section Championships finalist.<\/p>\n
