The Eagles earned first-place finishes in 21 out of 32 events against Fordham and 19 out of 32 events against Bucknell. He also finished first in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 4:48.71.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Roche earned the top spot in the 100 yard backstroke with a 51:29 finish. He also earned the first-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 51.74.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Clark placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke, finishing in 57.19. The freshman also placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a 45.88 finish.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10672\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10672\">Cole Gvozdas<\/a><\/dfn> won the 200 yard butterfly with a 1:56.66 finish.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=11640\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"11640\">Dale Nickerson<\/a><\/dfn> won both the 1-meter dive with a score of 313.57 and the 3-meter dive with a 318.00 score.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">O&#8217;Leary placed first in the 200 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:53.40.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10659\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10659\">Peter Shepanzyk<\/a><\/dfn> won the 200 yard breaststroke with a 2:04.54 finish.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Geoghegan Ribeiro, <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=11636\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"11636\">Matt Szekely<\/a><\/dfn>, <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10633\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10633\">Michael Hinton<\/a><\/dfn> and <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10664\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10664\">Max Threlkeld<\/a><\/dfn> combined to take the top spot in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:08.51.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The team combined for a score of 183.5 to Fordham&#8217;s 96.5.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Fordham Press Release<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bronx, N.Y. \u2013 (January 17, 2020) \u2013 The Fordham swimming &amp; diving team was back in action for the first time since December on Friday night, taking on the Boston College Eagles at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles and Rams were neck and neck throughout the women&#8217;s competition, but it was Boston College winning the final event and taking a one-point decision from the Rams, 150.5-149.5.\u00a0 In the men&#8217;s competition, Boston College finished with a 183.5-96.5 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Fordham was led on the women&#8217;s side by <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10277\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10277\">Amelia Bullock<\/a><\/dfn>, who won the 100 (55.56) and 200 (2:02.86) butterfly events.\u00a0 She was also a part of the Rams&#8217; 200 medley relay with <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10284\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10284\">Michelle Martin<\/a><\/dfn>, <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10286\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10286\">Hannah McGee<\/a><\/dfn>, and <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10289\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10289\">Theresa Mullen<\/a><\/dfn>, which tied for first with a time of 1:45.78.<\/p>\n<p>Martin also had a strong meet for the Rams, winning the 100 freestyle in 52.58 seconds and taking second in the 50 freestyle (24.00) and the 100 butterfly (56.41), as did <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10300\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10300\">Vaula Vekkeli<\/a><\/dfn>, who grabbed first in the 200 individual medley (2:06.65) and second in the 100 (58.09) and 200 (2:24.44) breaststroke events.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caption figure_object_image sidearm-story-image-align-right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/common\/controls\/image_handler.aspx?thumb_id=15&amp;image_path=\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/images\/2019\/12\/8\/PWilsonBUCK.jpg\" alt=\"PWilsonBUCK\" width=\"436\" height=\"245\" \/><figcaption>Patrick Wilson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other winners for the Rams included <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10298\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10298\">Clare Culver<\/a><\/dfn> in the 200 freestyle (1:53.60), <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10295\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10295\">Paulina Watson<\/a><\/dfn> in the 200 backstroke (2:04.00), <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10278\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10278\">Molly Dunn<\/a><\/dfn> in the one-meter dive (252.22) and <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10291\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10291\">Natalie Ortof<\/a><\/dfn> in the three-meter dive (271.50).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s events, the Rams won three events, beginning with <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10267\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10267\">Josh Stegen<\/a><\/dfn> taking the 200 freestyle in 1:42.77.\u00a0 <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10233\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10233\">Bryce Bollesen<\/a><\/dfn> then placed first in the 50 freestyle in 21.48 seconds with <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10244\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10244\">Nathaniel Guenther<\/a><\/dfn> finishing first in 1:57.43 in the 200 individual medley.<\/p>\n<p><dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10268\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10268\">Patrick Wilson<\/a><\/dfn> had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 (58.46) and 200 (2:09.52) breaststroke for the Rams.\u00a0 <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10254\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10254\">Christopher Sleutjes<\/a><\/dfn> grabbed second in the 1000 freestyle at 9:49.96 with <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10265\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10265\">Ethan Murray<\/a><\/dfn> snagging second in the 200 butterfly (1:57.85).\u00a0 <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10258\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10258\">Connor Wright<\/a><\/dfn> (200 back \u2013 1:56.50) and <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/fordhamsports.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10253\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10253\">Casey Sawyer<\/a><\/dfn>(100 fly \u2013 52.54) also posted second place finishes in their respective events.<\/p>\n<p>The Rams have a quick turnaround as the team hosts La Salle and Richmond for a tri-meet on Saturday, January 18<sup>th<\/sup>, beginning at 1:00 PM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Boston College Swimming and Diving Teams traveled to Bronx, NY, for a competition with Fordham University.
