This meet represented the last home competition of the season for the home team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Score<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vanderbilt &#8211; 141.5, Marshall &#8211; 106.5<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vucommodores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1.18-Marshall-Results.pdf\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\">RESULTS<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000;\">Vanderbilt Press Release<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>NASHVILLE, Tenn. \u2013 <\/strong>Vanderbilt swimming concluded its final home meet of the season with a 141.5-106.5 victory over Marshall on Saturday at the Centennial Sportsplex.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Overall, a very encouraging performance today. I thought we did really well and saw some very promising things as we prepare for the end of the season,\u201d said head coach Jeremy Organ.<\/p>\n<p>Making their final home debut, Vanderbilt dominated to pick up 10 first-place finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Starting strong in the 200-yard medley relay, Vanderbilt A relay \u2013 Abby Burke, Lindsey Gordon, Tonner DeBeer and Chantal Jordan touched in 1:44.38 to collect Vanderbilt\u2019s first victory of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Alina Jones concluded her freshman home campaign with two victories in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Sophomore Tonner DeBeer also earned a pair of victories claiming first in the 100 backstroke (55.75) and 100 butterfly (56.35).<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 fly, freshman Kristen Nutter collected her first win as a Commodore by touching the wall at 2:05.56. Sophomore Lauren Thomas picked up her first victory of the season in the 200 IM boasting a time of 2:07.51.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s meet marked the last at home for Vanderbilt\u2019s five seniors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing here for my last home meet is just such a reminder of what a gift it is to be here. Being surrounded by this team reminds me so much of what a dream it is to be here and how truly thankful I am,\u201d said senior Paige Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u201c<\/strong>It\u2019s always great to have a day to honor the seniors. They\u2019ve done such a great job over the last four years representing the university and the swim team,\u201d said Organ. \u201cIt\u2019s always a fun day racing at home in front of our home fans. We had several in-season best times with some details we can continue to improve on,&#8221; Marshall head coach <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=490\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"490\">Ian Walsh<\/a><\/dfn> said.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5604\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5604\">Darby Coles<\/a><\/dfn> had a stellar performance at the meet. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle, first in the 50-yard freestyle and first in the 100-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Darby (Coles) had another great meet and her consistency has been exceptional so far this season,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;In doing so, she came away with two individual wins. Heather (Sigmon) was another event winner for us that has been lights out in her 200 back the past two weekends. Things are really clicking in that event for her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the 200-yard freestyle relay, <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5604\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5604\">Darby Coles<\/a><\/dfn>, senior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5612\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5612\">Hannah Robins<\/a><\/dfn>, freshman <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5619\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5619\">Or Tamir<\/a><\/dfn> and senior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/herdzone.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5610\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5610\">Jordyn O&#8217;Dell<\/a><\/dfn>finished in first place overall.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Several others had in-season best performances and that&#8217;s what we want to start moving towards this time of year. We&#8217;re looking forward to having a weekend at home and will be preparing for our last two dual meets in a couple weeks vs Ohio University and James Madison University.
