The women&#8217;s relay team of senior <strong>Nicole Aarts,<\/strong> junior <strong>Sophie Angus,<\/strong> sophomore <strong>Miriam Guevara<\/strong> and junior <strong>Maddie Smith<\/strong> led the 1-2 NU finish for the women in a time of 1:41.38 to put the &#8216;Cats up 15-2 early in the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s team of sophomore <strong>Manu Martos Bacarizo,<\/strong> first-years <strong>Kevin Houseman<\/strong> and <strong>Federico Burdisso<\/strong> and sophomore <strong>Andrew Zhang<\/strong> followed the women&#8217;s lead, touching in a season best time of 1:28.11 to give the &#8216;Cats an early 11- 6 lead on the Hawkeyes.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Cats continued their sweep with junior <strong>Ilektra Lebl<\/strong> out-touching her competition in the 1000 free.<\/p>\n<p>Sheridan returned to the pool to lead the 1-2-4 NU finish in the women&#8217;s 100 back. Sheridan touched in 54.24, just ahead of teammates Aarts and first-year <strong>Emma Lepisova.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The men finished in a similar fashion, led by sophomore <strong>Martos Bacarizo<\/strong> for a 1-2-5 Wildcat finish by sophomore <strong>Ryan Gridley<\/strong> and senior <strong>Jack Thorne.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NU dominated the 100 breast on both sides with Brunzell, Angus, sophomore <strong>Tara Vovk<\/strong> and junior <strong>Becky Kamau<\/strong> scoring a combined 16 points for the women and Houseman and Mok scoring 11 for the men.<\/p>\n<p>In a dominant fashion, Burdisso set his first pool and school record as a Wildcat, touching in a time of 1:44.14 in the 200 fly. Guevara just out-touched her competition to claim the women&#8217;s 200 fly in a time of 2:01.38.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Malorie Han<\/strong> and Smith split the title in the women&#8217;s 50 free, both touching in 23.42. Han came back to claim top points in the 100 free, leading the &#8216;Cats 1-3-4-5 finish of Larson, Lara and Smith to bring the &#8216;Cats point total to 116.<\/p>\n<p>NU swept the 200 back with Sheridan touching in 1:59.04 for the women and Bacarizo touching in 1:44.75 to each earn nine points.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats continued to sweep, with the women earning the top four spots in the 200 breast and the men finishing first and fourth. The women were led by Brunzell in a time of 2:15.36, followed by Angus, Vovk and Kamu.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Cats were also dominant on the diving boards with first-year <strong>Marking Hopkins<\/strong> taking first in the 3 M and sophomore <strong>Yohan Eskrick-Parkinson<\/strong> earning top marks in the 1M<\/p>\n<p>The duo of Guevara and Burdisso were back in action for the 100 fly, both first to the wall by nearly a second to each earn nine Wildcat points.<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern finished the day with 22 individual wins and three relay wins to earn their fifth combined Big Ten win this season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iowa Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sophomore <strong>Aleksey Tarasenko<\/strong> (20.39), and seniors <strong>Joe Myhre<\/strong> (20.40), <strong>Steve Fiolic<\/strong> (20.45), and <strong>Will Scott <\/strong>(20.80) secured the top-four spots in the 50 free for the second meet in a row, keeping the sprint events hot.<\/p>\n<p>Seniors <strong>Allyssa Fluit<\/strong> (1:49.66) and <strong>Hannah Burvill<\/strong> (1:50.68) powered first and second finishes in the 200 free, followed by Tarasenko (1:36.98) with a win in the men\u2019s 200 free. Sophomore <strong>Mateusz Arndt<\/strong> was third at 1:37.80.<\/p>\n<p>Fluit (4:53.81) and freshman <strong>Macy Rink<\/strong> (5:00.94) flexed in the 500 free and secured the top-two spots, fueling the distance events. Arndt (4:27.82) and sophomore <strong>Andrew Fierke<\/strong> (4:30.00) took first and second for the men.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Michael Tenney<\/strong> secured the final individual win for the Hawkeyes in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.58.<\/p>\n<p>Freshmen <strong>Millie Sansome<\/strong> (10:17.58) and Rink (10:20.75) grabbed second and third in the 1,000 free. Junior <strong>Daniel Swanepoel<\/strong> (54.63) and freshman <strong>Will Myhre<\/strong> (55.30) rested second and third in the 100 breast. The duo finished in the same placing and order in the 200 breast at 1:59.22 and 2:03.57.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Kelsey Drake<\/strong> cruised to second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.64. Tenney followed with another silver in the men\u2019s 200 fly with a time of 1:47.64.<\/p>\n<p>Burvill took another second with a time of 51.17 in the 100 free, while Tarasenko came back in the men\u2019s 100 and finished second with a time of 44.38.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Jayah Mathews<\/strong> captured another win on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 276.68. Freshman <strong>Mohamed Neuman<\/strong> placed second for the men with a score of 294.08.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Anton Hoherz<\/strong> led the way on the 3-meter, taking the top spot with a score of 356.33. Neuman took third with 339.83 points. Sophomore <strong>Sam Tamborski<\/strong> placed third for the women with 286.50 points.<\/p>\n<p>The 200-medley team of <strong>Kennedy Gilbertson, Sage Ohlensehlen,<\/strong> Drake and <strong>Sarah Schemmel<\/strong> posted third with a time of 1:44.56. The men&#8217;s 200 medley relay of <strong>John Colin, Will Myhre,<\/strong> Kuznetsov, and <strong>Joe Myhre<\/strong> notched second in 1:28.28.<\/p>\n<p>The 400-free relay of L<strong>auren McDougall, Maddie Ziegert,<\/strong> Fluit, and Burvill finished second in a time of 3:25.76.
