The Hawkeye women split a pair of duals, posting a Big Ten dual win over Illinois, 223-86, but falling to the Fighting Irish, 209.50-99.50.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MORE BIG TEN COVERAGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/acc-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MORE ACC COVERAGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2991712378605700307MsoNoSpacing\">Iowa swimming senior <strong>Joe Myhre<\/strong> (20.18), sophomore <strong>Aleksey Tarasenk<\/strong>o (20.28), senior<strong> Steve Fiolic<\/strong> (20.59), and senior <strong>Will Scott<\/strong> (20.80) dominated and secured the top four spots in the 50 free. Tarasenko (44.84) and Myhre (45.38) also took first and second in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2991712378605700307MsoNoSpacing\">Freshman <strong>Will Myhre<\/strong> (54.96), junior <strong>Daniel Swanepoel<\/strong> (55.09), and senior <strong>Weston Credit<\/strong> (56.03) took first, second and fourth in the men&#8217;s 100 breast.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2991712378605700307MsoNoSpacing\">Senior <strong>Michael Tenney<\/strong> grabbed a win in the 200 fly in a time of 1:47.57, while freshman <strong>Sergey Kuznetsov<\/strong> recorded his first win as a Hawkeye in the 100 fly with a speedy 47.97. Tenney took third in 49.13.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2991712378605700307MsoNoSpacing\">Tarasenko tied Notre Dame&#8217;s <strong>Cason Wilburn<\/strong> for first in the 200 free with identical times of 1:37.35.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2991712378605700307MsoNoSpacing\">Iowa swimming junior<strong> Anton Hoherz<\/strong> took the crown on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 320.10, followed by freshman <strong>Michael Huebner<\/strong> in third (281.50).\u00a0 Junior <strong>Jayah Mathews<\/strong> dove to the top spot in the women\u2019s 1-meter with a score of 321.10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IRISH PERSPECTIVE<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":nm\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":nl\" class=\"a3s aXjCH \">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>The massive win for the women came after a month of training, including a 10-day training camp last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of our women as they came in and dominated two B1G teams with some great team swimming,\u201d Notre Dame head coach <strong>Mike Litzinger<\/strong> declared. \u201cIt was an opportunity for our younger athletes to shine and they certainly took advantage of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Irish got off to a strong start, winning the women\u2019s 200 Medley Relay with a 1:40.67 from <strong>Carly Quast<\/strong>, <strong>Coleen Gillilan, Cailey Grunhard<\/strong> and <strong>Rachel Wittmer<\/strong>. The Notre Dame team of <strong>Bayley Stewart<\/strong>, <strong>Elizabeth Fry, Erin Sheehan<\/strong> and<strong> Lauren Heller<\/strong> placed third (1:43.81).<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, <strong>Jack Montesi, Matthew Limbacher, Zach Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Aaron Schultz<\/strong> placed second in the 200 Medley Relay with a 1:30.21.<\/p>\n<p>From there, Notre Dame staked its claim on the meet, taking hold of first place in seven consecutive events. Luciana Thomas posted a 10:04.73 in the women\u2019s 1000 Free, good for first, while <strong>Jack Hoagland<\/strong> notched a University of Iowa Aquatic Center pool record in the men\u2019s 1000 Free with a 9:07.04.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abbie Dolan<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 200 Free with a 1:47.68, while <strong>Cason Wilburn<\/strong> turned in a 1:37.35 to finish first in the men\u2019s 200 Free. Quast raced to first place in the women\u2019s 100 Back with a 54.67, and Montesi posted a 49.22 to win the men\u2019s 100 Back. Freshman Fry won the women\u2019s 100 Breast, her first win of the season, with a 1:03.77.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElizabeth had been struggling with an injury all fall and is beginning to hit her stride now that she is healthy,\u201d Litzinger noted after the meet.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 200 Fly, Gillilan posted her 17th B-Cut time of the season with a 1:56.02, winning the event, and Wittmer sprinted to a win in the women\u2019s 50 Free with a 23.37. Dolan posted another win, this one in the women\u2019s 100 Free, with a 50.45.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish went on another run of seven consecutive wins, beginning with Stewart\u2019s win in the women\u2019s 200 Back, a B-Cut time of 1:58.86. <strong>Sadler McKeen<\/strong> got on the board with a win in the men\u2019s 200 Back (1:47.01), and sophomore<strong> Sammie Eyolfson<\/strong> followed with a win the women\u2019s 200 Breast (2:18.02), her first individual win of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSammie had a nice meet and is continuing on a good path,\u201d Litzinger expressed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Bottelberghe<\/strong> posted a 1:59.43 in the men\u2019s 200 Breast, good for first place, and Dolan notched another win, her third on the day, in the women\u2019s 500 Free (4:50.85). Hoagland followed suit, winning the men\u2019s 500 Free (4:23.53).<\/p>\n<p>Gillilan continued her success with her second and third individual wins of the day, winning the women\u2019s 100 Fly (52.33) and the women\u2019s 200 IM (1:58.55), both B-Cut times. She has now posted 19 B-Cut times on the season. <strong>Max Miranda<\/strong> posted a win in the men\u2019s 200 IM (1:50.08).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cColeen had a very good training camp and is really dialing in her focus,\u201d Litzinger shared. \u201cAll good things ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the diving end,<strong> Austin Flaute<\/strong> posted a first-place finish in the men&#8217;s 3 meter (367.20), while Erin Isola won the women&#8217;s 3 meter (320.35).<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/und.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/iowa-vs-notre-dame-vs-illinois-results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">narrow loss<\/a> came as a result of Iowa\u2019s depth, according to Litzinger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJack Hoagland had a great double win.
