NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Notre Dame has scored a huge verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from versatile Pflugerville, Texas native\u00a0Ana Herceg<\/strong> who announced her decision via CollegeSwimming.<\/p>\n

She will join Jess Geriane<\/strong><\/a>, Madeline<\/strong> Menkhaus<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Sophia Karras<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Mary Cate Pruitt<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Maggie Graves<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as members of the Fighting Irish\u2019s class of 2025.<\/p>\n

Herceg swims year-round with Nitro Swimming and took 17th in the 200m back at the Toyota U.S. Open last month before going on to record three top-8 finishes at Juniors West. Last short course season, she finished eighth in the 200 back at 2018 Juniors West and earned bronze in that event at College Station Sectionals.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I’m excited to be announcing my verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame. I can’t wait to further my academic and swimming careers at this amazing school. I want to thank my family, coaches, and friends for getting me to the place I am today. GO IRISH!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Also competing for the Croatian Swimming Federation, Herceg raced six events at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships and competed in the 200m back at the 18th FINA World Championships. At the LEN European Junior Championships in July, she finished eighth in the 200m back.<\/p>\n

A current junior at Weiss High School, Herceg is already a four-time UIL Texas 5A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 200 free and was the 500 free runner-up during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.<\/p>\n
