NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Billings, Montana native\u00a0Peter Thompson<\/strong>, one of the top distance swimmers in the class, has recently announced his verbal commitment to the University of Virginia for the 2021-22 season and beyond.<\/p>\n

He will join the Hoos\u2019 class of 2025 along with\u00a0Daniel Worth<\/strong><\/a>, Connor Boyle<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Max Iida<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Tyler Sicignano<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Jack Aikins<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Colin Bitz<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Matthew Styczen<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thompson swims year-round with Billings Aquatic Club and most recently finished 15th in the 500 free at Juniors West in December after taking sixth in the 1500m free at Junior Nationals in August. He was a seven-time Montana LCM Championship gold medalist this past summer and earned six best times at Federal Way Sectionals last winter.<\/p>\n

Thompson competed at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships and raced himself into earning a USA Swimming National Junior Team Spot for Team USA in the 10K. He currently holds seven Montana state age group records, is the fastest miler in Montana state history, and ranks in the top-50 for the 15-16 age group nationally in the 1500m free.<\/p>\n
