{"id":410073,"date":"2020-01-09T07:00:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T14:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=410073"},"modified":"2020-01-09T09:50:44","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T16:50:44","slug":"division-ii-meet-of-the-week-west-chester-travels-to-nova-southeastern-in-out-of-conference-showdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/division-ii-meet-of-the-week-west-chester-travels-to-nova-southeastern-in-out-of-conference-showdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Division II Meet of the Week: West Chester Travels to Nova Southeastern in Out of Conference Showdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Division II Meet of the Week: (#5\/17) West Chester vs. (#6\/6) Nova Southeastern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Two top ten NCAA Division II women&#8217;s teams will clash this week in Davie, Florida as #5 West Chester will pay a visit to #6 Nova Southeastern in a non-conference matchup before both teams go back to school next week.<\/p>\n<p>The meet will be Friday at 2 p.m. Nova Southeastern will travel up to Florida Southern on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Neither women&#8217;s team have lost to a non-Division I opponent yet this season as this will be a big test to see where both teams are at immediately after winter break training. The big matchup of the meet will be in the distance free races with reigning Division II NCAA champion\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-dii-champion-georgia-wright-opens-up-about-diagnosis-of-autism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Georgia Wright<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of West Chester and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nsusharks.com\/sports\/womens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\/emma-sundstedt\/5535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emma Sundstedt<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of Nova Southeastern.<\/p>\n<p>Wright won the 500, 1000 and 1650 at last year&#8217;s NCAAs and Sundstedt was runner-up in the 500 and third in the 1000 and 1650.<\/p>\n<p>Those two will be in the thick of things this year again for the national title in those three events as Wright is in her last year for the Rams and Sundstedt is in her junior season for the Sharks.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_358079\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-358079\" data-attachment-id=\"358079\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/division-ii-meet-of-the-week-west-chester-travels-to-nova-southeastern-in-out-of-conference-showdown\/georgia-wright-3\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/georgia-wright-ncaa-d2-_PB66223.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"2400,1800\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;3.5&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;Peter H. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Sharks are also strong in the medley relays as their 400 took down Queens at the Fall Frenzy Invite in November with\u00a0<strong>Cassie Wright<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Caily Friel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sasha Maslova<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jenna Johns\u00a0<\/strong>putting up the fourth fastest time in Division II this season.<\/p>\n<p>Maslova has proven valuable for Nova this season as she is ranked highly in the 200 fly and both IM&#8217;s, providing some valuable depth for the team. This is her first full season with the team after she came in January last year.
