NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has received a big verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Scottsdale, Arizona backstroker and sprint freestyler Greer Pattison<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pattison will join Katie Rauch <\/strong><\/a>and Elizabeth Sowards<\/strong><\/a> as well as twins Olivia\u00a0<\/strong>and<\/a>\u00a0Georgia Nel<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as members of the Tar Heels\u2019 class of 2025.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so incredibly thankful for my family, my Chaparral High School and Scottsdale Aquatic Club coaches, my friends and everyone who has supported me in my decision to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! I couldn\u2019t be happier to become a part of the Tar Heel family!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pattison, who owns two National standards with three additional Juniors cuts, swims year-round with Scottsdale Aquatic Club. She most recently placed seventh in the 100 back and 10th in the 50 free at Juniors West last month and won the 50 free at Phoenix Sectionals last winter. This past summer, she was the 100m back runner-up at Arizona LCM Seniors before going on to race two events at Phillips 66 Nationals.<\/p>\n

A current junior at Chaparral High School, Pattison is a six-time Arizona DI State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American\u00a0 won the 50 free and 100 back during both her sophomore and junior seasons after finishing second and first, respectively, in those events as a freshman. She was recently named the Arizona DI Girls’ Swimmer of the Year and helped her team in becoming the NISCA 2018-2019 Public High School National Champions.<\/p>\n
