{"id":409439,"date":"2020-01-02T14:49:09","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T21:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=409439"},"modified":"2020-01-02T14:49:09","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T21:49:09","slug":"greensboro-aquatic-center-to-host-five-ymca-national-swimming-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/greensboro-aquatic-center-to-host-five-ymca-national-swimming-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Greensboro Aquatic Center to Host Five YMCA National Swimming Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina will play host to five YMCA National Championships between 2020 and 2023 as the short course championships will be held in 2021, 22, and 23, and the long course championships will be in 2020 and 21.<\/p>\n<p>Greensboro hosted the short course championship each year since 2012 and the long course championship for the first time in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Greensboro Area Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau expects the city will see an economic impact of more than $20.2 million, per the local <a href=\"https:\/\/myfox8.com\/2020\/01\/02\/greensboro-aquatic-center-selected-to-host-5-national-swimming-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox affiliate in North Carolina<\/a>. Officials said Greensboro put bids in for all five championships and won all five, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmynews2.com\/article\/news\/local\/greensboro-aquatic-center-making-special-announcement\/83-9cd47abb-9c39-4edb-ba95-e42df2689025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to the local CBS affiliate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YMCA National Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2020 YMCA Long Course Nationals (<a href=\"http:\/\/ymca.ymcaswimminganddiving.org\/displaypage.asp?Cat=2020SC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 30 &#8211; April 3<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>2021 YMCA Short Course Nationals<\/li>\n<li>2021 YMCA Long Course Nationals<\/li>\n<li>2022 YMCA Short Course Nationals<\/li>\n<li>2023 YMCA Long Course Nationals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Greensboro Aquatic Center has been the host of many big swim meets since it opened in 2011, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2015-womens-ncaa-division-i-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2015 NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Swimming and Diving Championships<\/a>, multiple ACC championships, YMCA Nationals, and USA Pro Swim Series competitions.
