Last short course season, she finished sixth in the mile at Mid-Atlantic SCY Seniors. Also competing for Garnet Valley High School, Townend competed in the 500 free at the Pennsylvania State Championships during her sophomore season. She has also qualified for Open Water Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>&#8220;I am thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Bates College. I can\u2019t possibly thank my friends and family enough for supporting me along this journey. Go Bobcats! #rollcats&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 5:08.59<\/li>\n<li>1000 free &#8211; 10:42.88<\/li>\n<li>1650 free &#8211; 17:42.20<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 2:10.88<\/li>\n<li>400 IM &#8211; 4:37.13<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Townend will add valuable depth to the Bobcats&#8217; lineup when she arrives in Lewiston as a member of the class of 2024.
