I&#8217;m so thankful for my family, friends, teammates, and coaches that have helped me get to where I am! So excited to be a part of the Cardinal Family! #L1C4 #GoCards&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kasemets, who owns the Summer Juniors cut in the 100 breast, swims year-round with Patriot Aquatic Club. She raced the 100m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer after winning that event at Des Moines Futures. Last winter, she placed 17th in the 100 breast at Illinois Seniors before going on to earn a best time at NCSAs. Since the 2017-18 season, she has dropped seven seconds in the 100 breast, 11 seconds in the 200 breast, and 12 seconds in the 200 IM. That rate of improvement will bode well for the Cardinals who will lose top breaststrokers\u00a0<strong>Mariia Astashkina\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Morgan Friesen\u00a0<\/strong>to graduation the year Kasemets arrives in Louisville. She&#8217;s just on the brink of scoring range in the 100 breast at the ACC Championships level and she&#8217;ll have one year of overlap with <strong>Kaylee Wheeler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>History was made last season for the Cardinals as they became the first ACC program in history to have both its men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s teams finish among the top-five in the team standings at the NCAA Championships in the same year. Highlighted by a pair of national titles for <strong>Mallory Comerford<\/strong>, the women&#8217;s team recorded their highest finish in program history with a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Championships.
