Wisconsin senior\u00a0Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>continued her impressive weekend at the NC State Invitational in Greensboro as she won the 200 backstroke with a 1:49.51. Nelson won her third event of the weekend at the NC State Invite as she put up the nation’s top time in the 200 backstroke, finishing ahead of NC State’s\u00a0Emma Muzzy\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.22) and\u00a0Katharine Berkoff\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.29) as Muzzy was actually quicker in the morning at 1:51.80 to put her fifth in this weekend’s power rankings.<\/p>\n

Nelson also picked up wins in the 200 IM and 100 back, posting the nation’s top time in both events as well. She is the reigning NCAA champion<\/a> and will have the target on her back this season, but she showed she isn’t bothered by that thus far, staying composed throughout the invite with three number one times.<\/p>\n

Beata Nelson was joined by\u00a0MJ Mao\u00a0<\/strong>as winners for the Badgers on Saturday night as Mao won the 200 breast at 1:55.55, sitting seventh in the nation this weekend.<\/p>\n

The other biggest swim of the night came from NC State’s\u00a0Coleman Stewart<\/strong>, who won the 200 back at 1:39.98. It was actually the first time Stewart had swam the 200 back all season and he showed he is still in shape to swim it well, finishing ahead of Arizona State’s\u00a0Zachary Poti\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.34) and Wisconsin’s Cameron Tysoe\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.92). Stewart is now second in Division I this weekend as Poti is fourth.<\/p>\n

The Wolfpack were also able to get wins from\u00a0Ross Dant\u00a0<\/strong>in the 1650 (14:53.72),\u00a0Nyls Korstanjee\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 free (42.67),\u00a0Sophie Hansson\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 breeast (2:08.31) and\u00a0Zach Brown\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 fly (1:43.99). The Wolfpack didn’t put up any nation-leading times from the other invites this weekend but NC State has been known to be a great rested team and they should be much better come February and March.<\/p>\n

Arizona State’s Emma Nordin\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1650 (15:58.90), Auburn’s\u00a0Julie Meynen\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 free (47.73) and Arizona State’s\u00a0Lindsay Looney <\/strong>won the 200 fly (1:56.49).<\/p>\n
