Nease&#8217;s <strong>Olivia Peoples\u00a0<\/strong>threw down a 52.73 in the 100 fly during prelims while Flagler Palm Coast\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Micayla<\/strong> <strong>Cronk\u00a0<\/strong>set a new state mark in the 100 free in 48.20.<\/p>\n<p>After winning all three relays, Oviedo High School used impressive depth to capture the team title with 333 points while ending FW Buchholz&#8217;s four-year reign. Oviedo &#8211; 333<br \/>\n2. Creekside &#8211; 198<br \/>\n3. Boca Raton &#8211; 167<br \/>\n4. Winter Park &#8211; 138<br \/>\n5. Riverview Sarasota &#8211; 132<\/p>\n<p>Oviedo&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gabriela Donahue\u00a0<\/strong>(25.85),\u00a0<strong>Sara Beth Cathcart\u00a0<\/strong>(29.60),\u00a0<strong>Abigail Gibbons\u00a0<\/strong>(23.52), and\u00a0<strong>Kaylin Herbert\u00a0<\/strong>(23.48) began the meet by winning the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in a combined time of 1:42.45. K. Herbert (23.71), <strong>Isabella Bishop\u00a0<\/strong>(23.48),\u00a0<strong>Jaden Herbert\u00a0<\/strong>(23.83), and Gibbons (22.66) also won the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:33.68.<\/p>\n<p>Cronk successfully defended her state title in the 200 free for the third-straight year after posting a winning time of 1:44.39. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-scores-first-2021-22-verbal-from-in-state-standout-national-junior-teamer-micayla-cronk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The future Florida Gator<\/a> later won the 100 free in a quick 48.20 ahead of George M. Steinbrenner&#8217;s <strong>Lexie Mulvihill<\/strong> (49.58) as the only two swimmers in the field to crack 50 seconds. Her time took down <strong>Morgan Tankersley&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2016 mark of 48.69.<\/p>\n<p>Mulvihill, who has announced her verbal to Auburn, sprinted to the top spot in the 50 free after throwing down a quick 22.46 as the only swimmer in the race to break the 23-second mark. Boca Raton Community&#8217;s <strong>Emilie Moore\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first place on the 1-meter diving after posting a final score of 450.45.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/emma-weyant-junior-pan-pac-champion-verbally-commits-to-virginia-for-fall-of-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Future Virginia Cavalier<\/a> <strong>Emma Weyant\u00a0<\/strong>of Riverview won the 200 IM for the second-consecutive year, finishing the race in 1:58.10 as the only swimmer in the field to crack the two-minute barrier. Weyent then went on to dominate the 500 free to defend her title, winning by 11 seconds in a final time of 4:40.85.<\/p>\n<p>Plant&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ella Bathurst\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in the 200 IM with a final time of 2:00.74 before going on to win the 100 breast for the second straight season. Bathurst, who has sent her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/two-more-for-uva-ella-bathurst-kate-morris-verbally-commit-to-hoos-for-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">early verbal commitment to Virginia<\/a>, got her hands to the wall first in 1:01.83.<\/p>\n<p>Peoples<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, winning in 53.15 to narrowly out-touch Gibbons who finished second in 53.49. Her time of 52.73 eclipsed the previous state record of 52.82 set by Buchholz&#8217;s <strong>Talia Bates <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/talia-bates-breaks-state-record-buchholz-girls-four-peat-oviedo-boys-win-florida-4a-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at this meet <\/a>last year.<\/p>\n<p>Donahue later powered her way to an individual win in the 100 back, winning the race by nearly two seconds in a final time of 54.72. Oviedo made it a clean sweep of the relays as Cathcart (51.58), Bishop (51.41), J. Herbert (51.07), and Donahue (50.65) teamed up to win the 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:24.71.<\/p>\n<h1>Boys Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Oviedo &#8211; 214<br \/>\n2. Jupiter &#8211; 145<\/p>\n<p>Seminole Sanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Noah Evans\u00a0<\/strong>(23.19),\u00a0<strong>Dominik Toth\u00a0<\/strong>(26.75),\u00a0<strong>Jacksone Haines\u00a0<\/strong>(22.19), and\u00a0<strong>Dawson Joyce\u00a0<\/strong>(19.93) opened the boys&#8217; meet as 4&#215;50 medley relay champions, posting a combined time of 1:32.06. <strong>Wesley Hyde <\/strong>of West Port dropped over six seconds from his seed time to win the 500 free in 4:28.90.<\/p>\n<p>After anchoring the winning medley relay in an impressive sub-20 split, Joyce was back in the water to earn an individual win in the 50 free, splashing-and-dashing to the wall in a speedy 20.17. The sophomore proved his sprint prowress by also claiming the 100 free state title, racing to the wall in 44.70 to hold off Jupiter&#8217;s <strong>Varis<\/strong> <strong>Monroe\u00a0<\/strong>(44.97).<\/p>\n<p>Seminole Sanford&#8217;s Evans, who led off the victorious medley relay, took the top spot in the 100 back in 49.77 as the only swimmer in the race to sneak under the 50-second mark. Jupiter&#8217;s <strong>Tyler Coffey\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first place on the 1-meter board after posting a final score of 509.85 to successfully defend his state title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nathaniel Boccuzzo\u00a0<\/strong>of Lake Brantley won the 100 breast for the second-straight year, touching the wall first in 56.23. Boccuzzo&#8217;s teammate and future SMU Mustang <strong>Cole Parnell<\/strong>\u00a0led the charge in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:38.08 ahead of runner-up Monroe (1:38.77).<\/p>\n<p>Riverview Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Alexander<\/strong> <strong>Gusev<\/strong>, who has verbaled to Arizona State, dominated the 200 IM, winning by nearly three seconds in a final time of 1:48.88 as the only athlete to break the 1:50-marker. He then flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, getting his hands to the wall in 48.62 as the first of only three swimmers to crack the 50-second barrier.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce (20.31), Haines (20.98),\u00a0<strong>Gabriel Haynie\u00a0<\/strong>(21.34), and Toth (21.53) combined to win the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:24.16 for Seminole Sanford&#8217;s second relay victory of the day.
