Last winter, she finished fourth in the 100 back at Indiana SCY Seniors before going on to earn a best time at Indianapolis Sectionals.\u00a0A current junior at Reitz Memorial High School, Newkirk has competed at the Indiana State Championships the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Ball State University.\u00a0 I look forward to competing for and being a part of the Cardinal family starting in the Fall of 2021!\u00a0 Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for their continued support.\u00a0 Much appreciation to Coach J., his staff, and the BSU team for helping me through this exciting process.\u00a0 Go Cards!\u00a0 #baby bird #chirpchirp&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 back &#8211; 27.05<\/li>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 56.54<\/li>\n<li>200 back &#8211; 2:05.56<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 2:11.83<\/li>\n<li>400 IM &#8211; 4:39.54<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Newkirk will add valuable depth to the Cardinals&#8217; lineup both individually and on medley relays. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2019 with a degree in Public Communication and a double minor in Coaching and Sports Management.
