Smith broke two world records in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/regan-smith-shatters-missy-franklins-200-back-world-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">200<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/double-dip-finish-for-team-usa-as-regan-smith-and-medley-relay-take-down-world-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">100 backstroke<\/a>, winning a gold medal in her lone individual event &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/regan-smith-secures-first-world-title-in-200-back-just-misses-wr-with-203-69\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the 200 back<\/a>. Regan Smith has made three straight national team trips, starting as a 15-year-old in 2017 when she was eighth in the 200 back at the World Championships.
