The Spartan men and women emerged victorious after Saturday&#8217;s duel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scores<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MSU wommen 200.5, Kenyon wommen 98.5<\/p>\n<p>MSU men 157, Kenyon men 143<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/msuspartans.com\/documents\/2019\/11\/9\/Final_Results_Kenyon.pdf\">RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Michigan State Press Release<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>EAST LANSING, Mich. \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Michigan State swimming and diving beat Kenyon College on Saturday. The Spartan men beat the Lords 200.5-98.5, and the Spartan women beat Ladies, 157-143.<\/p>\n<p>The men took home eight first-place finishes and the women finished with 13.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had some pretty good swims and our divers really did well,&#8221; said head coach <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=498\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"498\">Matt Gianiodis<\/a><\/dfn>. &#8220;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9689\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9689\">Jakob Heberling<\/a><\/dfn> broke a pool record and beyond that they really scored well. Our whole team swam really well, and I thought we did a great job. <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9721\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9721\">Erin Szara<\/a><\/dfn> was a double win, which she usually is. All-in-all, the week we had and coming down here the day off we had great results and I thought the effort was there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Setting a new Kenyon pool record was sophomore <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9689\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9689\">Jakob Heberling<\/a><\/dfn> in the 3-meter with a score of 346.80. He also took first in the 1-meter with a 339.15 score.<\/p>\n<p>Five Spartans finished with two victories in today&#8217;s contest.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9721\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9721\">Erin Szara<\/a><\/dfn> claimed first in the 100 breaststroke for the sixth time this season (1:04.17) and also won the 200 breaststroke, 2:21.27.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9690\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9690\">Allie Heineman<\/a><\/dfn> picked up her fourth-consecutive win in the 50 freestyle, 24.19, and her second-consecutive in the 100 freestyle (53.17).<\/p>\n<p>Picking up his third-consecutive 100 freestyle win of the season was junior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9687\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9687\">Aidan Farley<\/a><\/dfn> with a time of 45.89. He also finished first in the 400 IM, clocking a time of 4:02.65.<\/p>\n<p>In both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, sophomore <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9697\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9697\">Jonathan Lee<\/a><\/dfn> took first place with respective times of 57.47 and 2:04.74, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The freshman <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10125\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10125\">Emma Inch<\/a><\/dfn> clocked times of 2:05.28 and 4:32.33 in the 200 butterfly and the 400 IM, respectively, to take first place in both races.<\/p>\n<p>Two Spartans claimed their first wins of the 2019-20 season.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Scott took first in the 200 butterfly, 1:53.04, while sophomore <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9715\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9715\">Lucy Schenden<\/a><\/dfn> finished first in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.98).<\/p>\n<p>Claiming her first victory as a Spartan was freshman <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10132\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10132\">Liz Quarin<\/a><\/dfn> in the 500 freestyle, touching the pad at 5:09.93.<\/p>\n<p>For his third-consecutive win in the 50 freestyle, senior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9728\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9728\">Payton Woods<\/a><\/dfn> clocked a time of 20.76.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomores <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9681\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9681\">Lauren Biglin<\/a><\/dfn> and <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9725\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9725\">Sam Villani<\/a><\/dfn> finished first in their respective events of 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Biglin finished with a time of 1:55.87 and Villani clocked a 57.20 time.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 200 medley relay came in first place with a time of 1:43.76 from Villani, Szara, <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10131\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"10131\">Kasey Venn<\/a><\/dfn> and Heineman.<\/p>\n<p>On the diving side, junior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/msuspartans.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9698\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"9698\">Amanda Ling<\/a><\/dfn> took first-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-mete. She recorded her third-consecutive win in the 1-meter and second-consecutive in the 3-meter with scores of 318.70 and 277.70, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Spartans are back in competition on Nov. 22-24 as they head down to Indianapolis, Ind. to participate in the Meet of Champions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Kenyon Press Release &#8211; Men<\/span><\/p>\n<p>GAMBIER, Ohio \u2013 Michigan State University bested the Kenyon College Lords swim team 157-143 on Saturday afternoon at James A. Steen Aquatics Center. The meet was Kenyon&#8217;s second in as many days against NCAA Division I competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Lords were led by junior <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5548\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5548\">David Fitch<\/a><\/dfn> who was a part of three event wins.<\/p>\n<p>During the day&#8217;s opening race, the 200-yard medley relay, Fitch teamed with <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5578\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5578\">Nick Hong<\/a><\/dfn>, <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5568\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5568\">Luis Weekes<\/a><\/dfn> and <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5569\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5569\">Tommy Weiss<\/a><\/dfn> and posted a winning time of 1:30.94.<\/p>\n<p>A few races later, Fitch won the 100-yard backstroke in 50.39 and then added to his victory count with a win in the 100 fly (49.02). Three other Lords attained individual wins, as well.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5562\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5562\">Connor Rumpit<\/a><\/dfn> continued his strong weekend by capturing first in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events. He clocked a 4:36.44 in the 500 and added a 9:29.88 mark in the 1000.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Weiss&#8217;s individual win in the 200-yard freestyle came in 1:43.00 while <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5541\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5541\">Mick Bartholomew<\/a><\/dfn> touched the wall first of the 200 back in 1:51.58. The Lords&#8217; last victory came during the 400-yard free relay. <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5566\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5566\">Nicholas Tong<\/a><\/dfn>, <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5571\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5571\">Chris Rutter<\/a><\/dfn>, Weiss and <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5551\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5551\">Marcus Hong<\/a><\/dfn> competed that event in 3:04.75, which was 0.39 seconds faster than the Spartans&#8217; A team.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the Lords&#8217; top marks including runner-up finishes from Bartholomew (400 IM), <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5539\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5539\">Kieran Allsop<\/a><\/dfn> (100 breast) and Weekes (200 breast).<\/p>\n<p>Kenyon will return to action from November 21-23 at the University of West Virginia Invitational in Morgantown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Kenyon Press Release &#8211; Women<\/span><\/p>\n<p>GAMBIER, Ohio \u2013 Facing its third NCAA Division I opponent in the last two days, the Kenyon College swimming and diving team struggled to keep pace with the Michigan State University Spartans, who came to the Steen Aquatics Center on Saturday and defeated the host Ladies, 200.5-98.5.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams squared off in 14 swimming events and two diving events. The Spartans came away victorious in all but three.<\/p>\n<p>The Ladies got individual-event wins from junior <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5514\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5514\">Crile Hart<\/a><\/dfn> and sophomore <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5524\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5524\">Racine Ross<\/a><\/dfn>. Hart won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:04.49. Three events later, Ross claimed the win in the 100-yard butterfly, which she completed in 59.32.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the meet, the Ladies pulled out a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Hart kicked off the relay, which also included <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5510\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5510\">Celina German<\/a><\/dfn>, <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5523\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5523\">Andrea Perttula<\/a><\/dfn>, and <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5519\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5519\">Emmie Mirus<\/a><\/dfn>.<\/p>\n<p>Following up on those first-place performances, Kenyon received runner-up showings from Mirus in the 50-yard freestyle (24.55), from freshman <dfn><a class=\"sidearm-roster-link-normalized\" href=\"https:\/\/athletics.kenyon.edu\/roster.aspx?rp_id=5529\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"5529\">Ania Axas<\/a><\/dfn> in the 400-yard individual medley (4:39.48) and from Hart in the 100-yard backstroke (57.71).<\/p>\n<p>The Ladies now have nearly two weeks away from competition.
