Davidson, N.C. native\u00a0<strong>Tim Connery<\/strong>, one of the top recruits in his year, will arrive in Ann Arbor at the start of the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n<p>A jack-of-all-trades, Connery was named to the 2019-20 USA Swimming National Junior Team for his stellar performances this summer. He won the 200m IM at Junior Nationals where he also took fifth in the 100m free and 100m back and sixth in the 100m breast. He currently owns a pair of 2020 Olympic Trials cuts and a slew of additional U.S. Open and Summer Juniors standards.<\/p>\n<p>Connery does his club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and finaled in a pair of events at Phillips 66 Nationals in 2018 before going on to place eighth in the 200m IM at Junior Nationals that same summer. He won the 50 free during his sophomore season while notching victories in the 100 back and 200 IM during his freshman season. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/christ-the-king-catholic-high-school-sweeps-ncisaa-1a2a-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the state record holder<\/a> in both of those events.<\/p>\n<p>In SCY, his best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 53.74<\/li>\n<li>200 breast &#8211; 1:59.85<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 1:47.85<\/li>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 48.06<\/li>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 20.42<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 44.31<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:41.14<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:28.20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In LCM, his best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50m free &#8211; 23.80<\/li>\n<li>100m free &#8211; 50.33 (Olympic Trials cut)<\/li>\n<li>200m free &#8211; 1:52.27<\/li>\n<li>100m back &#8211; 55.93<\/li>\n<li>200m back &#8211; 2:06.24<\/li>\n<li>100m breast &#8211; 1:02.12<\/li>\n<li>200m breast &#8211; 2:21.62<\/li>\n<li>100m fly &#8211; 54.54<\/li>\n<li>200m IM &#8211; 2:01.58 (Olympic Trials cut)<\/li>\n<li>400m IM &#8211; 4:32.51<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Connery&#8217;s versatility will be extremely beneficial for Michigan when he suits up for them in the fall of 2021 and he could find himself in a number of different events throughout his college career. His time in the 100 breast is already fast enough for the 2019-20 NCAA &#8220;B&#8221; standard, and he isn&#8217;t too far off in his other events, even with nearly two years of club swimming still to go.
