The women went 2-0 on the weekend while the men dropped the meet versus the Hokies.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio State men <strong>193.50<\/strong>; Penn State men <strong>158.50<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ohio State women\u00a0<strong>189<\/strong>; Penn State women <strong>155<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ohio State men <strong>168<\/strong>; Virginia Tech men <strong>185<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ohio State women <strong>247<\/strong>; Virginia Tech women <strong>106<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Buckeye women, nationally ranked at No. 24 this week, started out with a second place finish on the 1-meter springboard as <strong>Mackenzie Crawford<\/strong> finished with a score of 267.55. <strong>Genevieve Angerame<\/strong> and <strong>Leah Baker<\/strong> rounded out the Top 5 in the event with scores of 257.65 and 255.55, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>On day two of competition the Ohio State women tallied three first place finishes.<strong> Molly Kowal<\/strong> touched first in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:00.91, over eight seconds ahead of the second place finisher. In the 100 breaststroke,<strong> Hanna Gresser<\/strong> picked up her first win of the weekend with a time of 1:01.69.<\/p>\n<p>The Ohio State women swept 1-2-3 in the 400 individual medley as<strong> Katie Trace<\/strong> finished first (4:17.90) followed by <strong>Kathrin Demler<\/strong> (4:17.94) and <strong>Kristen<\/strong> <strong>Romano<\/strong> (4:23.23).<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, Ohio State, the No. 8-ranked team in the nation, went one-two on the 3-meter springboard event with<strong> Jacob Fielding<\/strong> taking first with a score of 357.55 and <strong>Jacob Siler<\/strong> finishing second at 357.25. <strong>Lyle Yost<\/strong> just missed out on a podium finish but picked up fourth with 336.30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jason Mathews<\/strong> recorded the only individual first place finish for the men on day two of competition in the 100 breast (54.44). He was followed by <strong>Evan<\/strong> <strong>McFadden<\/strong> at second with a time of 55.85. Four swimmers notched second place finishes including <strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong> (50 free), <strong>Thomas Watkins<\/strong> (200 back), <strong>Andrew Loy<\/strong> (200 free), and <strong>Jason Mathews<\/strong> (200 IM).<\/p>\n<p>In relays, Ohio State\u2019s \u201cA\u201d teams finished first in both the women and the men as Amy Fulmer, Freya Rayner, Rebekah Bradley and Taylor Petrak finished at 1:32.04 in the 200 free and Andrew Loy, Sem Andreis, Matthew Abeysinghe and Cameron Craig swam to victory with a time of 2:57.18 in the 400 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ohio State Swimming Results \u2013 Women<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Diving Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1-meter diving \u2013 2. Ohio State \u201cA\u201d (Loy, Andreis, Abeysinghe, Craig) 2:57.18<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BIG TEN COVERAGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Penn State&#8217;s top swims<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Penn State women&#8217;s swimming &amp; diving team defeated Virginia Tech, 216.50- 136.50, but fell to No. 24 Ohio State, 198-155 for their &#8220;Military Appreciation&#8221; meet on Saturday at home. This was the team&#8217;s first meet against a ranked opponent this season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the narrow loss, the women stole the show in day two with four event winners on top of one Friday event winner, two event sweeps in the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke, in addition to two pool records in the 200 and 400 medley relays. The atmosphere was energetic with fans and the Nittany Lion mascot in attendance.<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Junior\u00a0<strong>Carly Hart,<\/strong> junior\u00a0<strong>Maddie Cooke<\/strong>, senior<strong>\u00a0Maddie Hart<\/strong>, junior\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Szekely<\/strong>, and freshman\u00a0<strong>Abbie Amdor<\/strong>\u00a0all secured event wins throughout the meet, with\u00a0Carly Hart\u00a0winning the 200 breaststroke (2:14.30) for the second meet in a row on day one and Cooke winning the 50 free (22.81) on day two.\u00a0Carly Hart\u00a0also placed second in the 100 breast (1:01.84) while Cooke placed third (1:02.64) in the same race.\u00a0Carly Hart\u00a0has yet to lose the 200 breast this season and Cooke swam the ninth-fastest time in Penn State history in the 50 free and missed the NCAA B-Cut time by only 5 one-hundredths of a second.<\/p>\n<p>Maddie Hart\u00a0also had some great swims in day two, winning the 100 butterfly (54.47), placing second in the 100 back (55.22) and third in the 200 fly (2:01.30). Szekely won the 200 back (1:59.18) and placed third in the 400 IM (4:24.98). Amdor continued to show her dominance in free sprint events, touching first in the 200 (1:49.94) and second in the 100 (50.36).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Daly\u00a0<\/strong>led the team with three event wins in the two-day meet. On Saturday, Daly secured the win in his first event of the day, the 500 freestyle (4:28.43) in addition to touching third in the 200 free (1:39.63). During day one, Daly won both the 400 IM (3:55.57) and 1000 freestyle (9:19.01)<\/p>\n<p>Junior,\u00a0<strong>Hayden Harlow<\/strong>\u00a0was a stand out for the Nittany Lions on Saturday morning. Harlow placed first in the 200 IM (1:49.75) and swam a personal best time in the 500 free, earning second place with a time of 4:28.54. Harlow had another top-three finish on Friday with a third-place touch in the 400 IM (3:58.12)<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the event winners list,\u00a0<strong>William Roberson<\/strong>\u00a0swam a NCAA B-Cut qualifying time in the 50 free with a first-place time of 19.78.
