Nearly 100 swimmers from about 50 countries competed in the Yeosu Expo Ocean Park in Gwangju, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen medals were awarded to swimmers from nine nations who competed in the 5K, 10K and 25K races from July 13-19. France earned the most medals with five, just ahead of Germany with four.<\/p>\n<p>The top individuals were Germany\u2019s Florian Wellbrock and Brazil\u2019s Ana Marcela Cunha, who were named Swimming World\u2019s 2019 Open Water Swimmers of the Year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><br \/>\nHere are this year\u2019s top five open water stories, taking place from Hawaii to Florida to Europe and East Asia:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1.
