NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Cary, N.C. native and talented backstroker\u00a0Colin Cotter\u00a0<\/strong>has pledged his verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina and will arrive in Columbia next fall.<\/p>\n

Cotter, who owns a pair of Winter Juniors standards, does his club swimming with Marlins of Raleigh and most recently placed sixth in the 200m back and eighth in the 100m back at Greensboro Futures this past summer. Last winter, he raced both backstroke events at Juniors East before going on to finish 12th in the 200 back and 16th in the 100 back at Greensboro Sectionals.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Green Hope High School, Cotter is a three-time North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist and has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors. He raced to sixth in the 100 back and 15th in the 200 IM during his sophomore season.<\/p>\n

From the moment I stepped on the campus at Columbia I was captivated by family atmosphere, amazing coaching staff, and strong leaders. It was in that moment I knew I couldn\u2019t spending my next four years anywhere else.
