017 USA SWIMMING TO OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZE AMERICAN RECORDS SET IN ISL MEETS<\/strong><\/span>

\nUSA Swimming confirmed that it will recognize American records set in International Swimming League competitions as official records\u2014unlike FINA, the sport\u2019s governing body, with world records. FINA\u2019s decision has caused discourse among the athletes competing in the ISL.<\/span><\/p>\n

018 ALASKAN HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM OK AFTER PLANE OVERSHOOTS RUNWAY<\/strong><\/span>

\nA twin-engine airplane carrying an Alaskan high school swim team recently crashed after going off the runway in Alaska. Although two passengers suffered critical injuries and 10 more received medical care, members of the swim team were reported OK after the plane went off the runway by nearly 500 feet and came to a rest just short of the Bering Sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that a public hearing is set for Nov. 15 at the Conference Center of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Montreux, Switzerland. The court will hear a challenge to a decision of the FINA Doping Panel to allow world record holder Sun Yang of China to escape penalty despite a series of warnings and cautions issued to the swimmer after an acrimonious four-hour argument in September 2018 with testing agents from the IDTM agency hired by FINA.<\/span><\/p>\n
