The Yardley, Penn. native announced his verbal intention to the Wolfpack via Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>He will join <strong>Garrett Boone<\/strong>, <strong>Sam Hoover<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wolfpack-earns-2021-verbal-from-oklahoma-state-record-holder-aiden-hayes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong><\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/junior-national-finalist-arsenio-bustos-announces-verbal-to-nc-state-wolfpack-for-2021-22\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Arsenio Bustos\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>in Raleigh at the start of the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n<p>Curtiss placed fifth in the 50m free at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer to secure a spot on the 7th FINA World Juniors Championship roster. In Budapest, he swam the fastest time during both prelims and semis en route to earning silver in that event during finals. During the semi-final, he blasted a 21.95 to become only the third 17-18 American ever to do so.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the 2019-20 USA Swimming National Team,\u00a0Curtiss does his club swimming with Hamilton Y Aquatic Club under coach\u00a0<strong>Susan Welsh<\/strong>. He earned bronze in the 50 free at Juniors East last winter where he also placed 11th in the 100 free. The NISCA All-American won the 50\/100 free combo as a sophomore after placing first and third, respectively, in those events during his freshman season.<\/p>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 19.70<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 44.08<\/li>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 49.41<\/li>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 50.10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In LCM, his best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50m free &#8211; 21.95 (Olympic Trials cut)<\/li>\n<li>100m free &#8211; 51.45<\/li>\n<li>100m back &#8211; 59.44<\/li>\n<li>100m fly &#8211; 57.40<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Curtiss will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Wolfpack at the start of the 2021-22 season both individually and on relays. His best time in the 50 free is already fast enough for an NCAA \u201cB\u201d standard for the 2019-20 season, even with just under two years of club swimming still to go before arriving in college.
