Holly Springs, N.C. native\u00a0<strong>Brooke Zettel\u00a0<\/strong>has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Florida and will arrive in Gainesville in the fall of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>A incredibly versatile swimmer, Zettel does her club swimming with TAC Titans and owns the U.S. Open standard in 10 different events. This past summer, she earned bronze in the 100m breast at North Carolina LCM Seniors before going on to race four events at Phillips 66 Nationals. At Cary Futures in 2018, she won the 200m IM and placed second in the 100m back and 400m IM.<\/p>\n<p>Zettel placed 19th in the 200m back at Winter Nationals before going on to take fifth in the 200 breast, seventh in the 200 IM, and 11th in the 400 IM at Juniors East last winter. She won the 200 IM and was the 100 breast runner-up as a sophomore after placing first in the 200 IM and taking third in the 100 back during her freshman season. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also owns the state record in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 54.81<\/li>\n<li>200 fly &#8211; 1:58.20<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 1:57.93<\/li>\n<li>400 IM &#8211; 4:12.39<\/li>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 1:01.89<\/li>\n<li>200 breast &#8211; 2:12.00<\/li>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 54.40<\/li>\n<li>200 back &#8211; 1:57.43<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She has already achieved two 2020 Olympic Trials cuts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100m fly &#8211; 1:00.56<\/li>\n<li>200m IM &#8211; 2:16.69<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Zettel will be a huge addition to the Gators&#8217; lineup when she arrives on campus for the 2021-22 season, and she most likely will find herself in a number of different events throughout her college career given her versatility. She would&#8217;ve scored in the B-final of the 400 IM as well as the C-final of the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, 200 fly at the 2019 SEC Championships where Florida secured the runner-up team finish.
