{"id":398263,"date":"2019-10-15T09:22:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T16:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=398263"},"modified":"2019-10-15T09:22:51","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T16:22:51","slug":"florida-state-swimming-diving-snags-three-acc-weekly-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-state-swimming-diving-snags-three-acc-weekly-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida State Swimming, Diving Snags Three ACC Weekly Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three members of the Florida State swimming and diving teams captured ACC weekly honors following the split against on Saturday against NR\/22 Duke.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Ayla Bonniwell<\/strong> and junior <strong>Joshua Davidson<\/strong> were named the ACC Divers of the Week, while senior <strong>Vladimir Stefanik<\/strong> captured the first ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honor of his career.<\/p>\n<p>A team captain, Stefanik brought home two of FSU\u2019s three wins in the final four events in order to lead the 17th-ranked Noles to victory over the Blue Devils, 153-147.<\/p>\n<p>The Varin, Slovakia native, led a 1-2 finish in the 100 fly with a time of 48.42, which is the 11th fastest time in the nation this season. Minutes later, Stefanik anchored the 400 free relay with a split of 43.77, in a winner take all situation. The time of 2:57.48 is the top time in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the meet, Stefanik won the 200 free with a time of 1:37.95 for Florida State swimming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited for Vlad,\u201d FSU head coach <strong>Neal Studd<\/strong> said. \u201cHe has been awesome this fall, working hard and being a leader for this team. He came through for us big time this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davidson earned his fourth-career ACC Male Diver of the Week honor after winning both 1-meter and 3-meter against the Blue Devils.<\/p>\n<p>The Tomball, Texas native led the way for a dominant FSU 1-2 finish on 3-meter with a score of 357.60.\u00a0 Later in the meet, when the Seminoles needed it most, Davidson captured first place points by a margin of 2.92, for a total of 328.80, giving the Noles the lead heading into the final two swimming events.<\/p>\n<p>Bonniwell (Ithaca, N.Y.) turned in a first place finish on 3-meter with a total of 308.85 after finishing second on 1-meter at 301.12. This is her fourth time earning the honor in her career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese guys are doing great,\u201d FSU head diving coach <strong>John Proctor<\/strong> said. \u201cThey\u2019re working hard and moving in the right direction.
