{"id":397935,"date":"2019-10-12T18:06:22","date_gmt":"2019-10-13T01:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=397935"},"modified":"2019-10-12T18:06:22","modified_gmt":"2019-10-13T01:06:22","slug":"calypso-sheridan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/calypso-sheridan\/","title":{"rendered":"Calypso Sheridan Named SMU Classic Most Valuable Swimmer After 5 Wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a record-setting performance by Calypso Sheridan on the first day of the SMU Classic on Friday, the Northwestern All-American continued to dominate the pool on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>After earning five first place finished and one runner-up, Sheridan was awarded meet MVP, contributing 64 individual points and 44 relay point to Northwestern&#8217;s third-place finish.<\/p>\n<p>Sheridan was right back at record pace for the 400 IM where the junior dropped the nation leading time of 4:05.33 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/calypso-sheridan-slams-down-405-400-im-at-smu-classic-auburn-leads-after-day-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">to claim the win and break the meet record<\/a>. The Australian native also won 100 back in a time of 52.85 for 16 team points.<\/p>\n<p>In true Sheridan fashion, the All-American brought home two wins on day two in the 200 back and 200 IM. In the 200 back, the junior broke her own school record by almost two second before taking the 200 IM in a time of 1:56.57.<\/p>\n<p>In her first individual event as a Wildcat, freshman <strong>Hannah Brunzell<\/strong> out touched her competition in the 100 breast to capture her first collegiate win and 16 team points.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Cats kicked off day two winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:37.93. The team of Sheridan, Brunzell, <strong>Miriam Guevara<\/strong> and <strong>Maddie Smith<\/strong> touched in just a second over the previous school record which was set last year.<\/p>\n<p>Brunzell took home her second collegiate victory in the 200 breast, touching in a time of 2:10.22 to score 16 points for the overall team race.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-smu-classic-full-day-2-ncaa-college-2019-10-11.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COMPLETE RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>TEAM SCORES<\/strong><br \/>\n1.
