NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Yale University has received a new verbal commitment* from Nashville, Tenn. native Alex Massey<\/strong> who will arrive in New Haven in the fall of 2020.<\/p>\n

Primarily a butterflyer, Massey does her club swimming with Ensworth Aquatics and owns seven Summer Juniors standards with the 2020 Olympic Trials cut in the 200m fly. She most recently grabbed the gold medal in the 200m fly at NCSAs this past summer after winning four events at the Southeastern LCM Championships. Last winter, she raced five events at Juniors East before going on to win both IMs at the Southeastern SCY Championships.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Harpeth Hall School, Massey is a six-time TISCA State Championship finalist. She earned bronze in the 100 fly and took fourth in the 100 back as a junior after finishing second and fifth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. During her sophomore year, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, along with\u00a0Alex Walsh, Gretchen Walsh, and Ella Nelson<\/strong>, broke the national independent school record in the 4×50 medley relay (1:38.77) where she split a 24.49 on the fly leg.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur XC season ends in November every year, so I have yet to get even 90 days of full time swim training in before the short course championship season.\u00a0\u00a0It will be exciting to see what I can do with a focused year-round approach.\u00a0\u00a0Mostly, I\u2019m looking forward to working with all the great coaches and teammates at Yale, and of course the academic opportunities are incredible.\u00a0\u00a0I am honored to commit to Yale and such a tradition of excellence.\u00a0\u00a0BOOLA!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
