NEW COMMIT: <\/strong>Stanford University has received a new in-state verbal commitment from local standout Jonathan Affeld. The Palo Alto, Calif. native will arrive on The Farm as a member of the class of 2024.<\/p>\n

Affeld, who owns 11 Winter Juniors (or faster) standards, swims year-round with Alto Swim Club and trains out of his future college pool. He most recently recorded four best times at Junior Nationals this past summer where his highest finish was an 18th<\/sup>-place showing in the 100m fly after earning silver in the 200m fly at Santa Clarita Sectionals. Last winter, he finaled in the 500 free at Juniors West before going on to register five top-8 finishes at Carlsbad Sectionals.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Henry M. Gunn High School, Affeld is a five-time CIF North Coast Section Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 500 free and was the 200 IM runner-up as a junior after finishing second in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free during his sophomore season.<\/p>\n
