Carter finished seventh at NCAAs last season in the 200 butterfly with a 1:53.06 and also picked up honorable mention All-American status in the 100 fly by finishing 12th at 51.77. She will enroll at the school in January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Carter was the SEC freshman of the year for the 2018-19 school year after winning the 200 fly at SECs and finishing sixth in the 100 fly and 11th in the 200 IM. She will bring valuable depth to a Michigan team in January that has finished in the top four two years in a row and is gunning for an unprecedented third straight year in the top four. The Wolverines also won the Big Ten title three years in a row from 2016-2019 before being upstaged by Indiana last year in the Hoosiers&#8217; home pool.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, Carter would have been Michigan&#8217;s top 200 butterflyer by over two seconds with her best time (1:52.70) as <strong>Vanessa Krause\u00a0<\/strong>ended the season as Michigan&#8217;s top swimmer in that event with a 1:55.14. When she gets to Ann Arbor, she will also be training alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maggie-macneil-stuns-sarah-sjostrom-in-the-100-fly-medalists-honor-rikako-ikee-on-podium-race-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reigning World Champion in the 100 fly\u00a0<strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong><\/a>, who is currently in her sophomore year. Carter still would have been Michigan&#8217;s second best 100 butterflyer with her best time from last year.<\/p>\n<p>Carter also has an impressive long course resume as she represented the United States at the World University Games this summer in the 200 butterfly, finishing with the silver medal at 2:09.05.
