NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Hightstown, N.J. native\u00a0Micaela Bernard\u00a0<\/strong>will head to the Sunshine State next fall after verbally committing to Florida Atlantic University.<\/p>\n

Primarily a sprint freestyler, Bernard swims year-round with X-Cel Swimming and most recently placed seventh in the 50m free at the New Jersey LCM Junior Olympics after placing 21st in that event at Rutgers Sectionals. Last winter, she raced three events at Ithaca Sectionals en route to achieving a best time in the 50 free. A current senior at Robbinsville High School, Bernard competed in the 100 free and 200 free at the New Jersey Meet of Champions during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWords cannot describe how thrilled I am to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida Atlantic University. Not only does FAU have great academic programs, a supportive swim team, and a beautiful\u00a0campus; it also has a wonderful environment\u00a0\u00a0that I\u2018ll be able to call home for the next four years. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teachers who have helped me through this college process.
