NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Georgia Tech has earned a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from backstroker Astrid Dirkzwager<\/strong> of Wichita, Kansas.<\/p>\n

Dirkzwager, who owns three Summer Juniors standards, swims year-round with Wichita Swim Club and most recently placed 24th in the 200m free at Des Moines Futures this past summer after racing to seventh in the 200m back at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, she won both backstroke events at the Missouri Valley SCY Championships before going on to earn bronze in the 200 back at Columbia Sectionals.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Wichita East High School, Dirkzwager is a six-time Kansas 6A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 free and 100 back as a junior after finishing first in the 100 back and second in the 200 free during her sophomore season. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also earned gold medals in the 100 back and 200 free during her rookie campaign.<\/p>\n
