CBC Sports will offer live streams of every meet throughout the ISL season on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbcsports.ca\/\">cbcsports.ca<\/a>\u00a0and via the CBC Sports app for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/ca\/app\/cbc-sports\/id1001665907\">iOS<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=ca.cbc.android.sports&amp;hl=en\">Android<\/a>\u00a0devices, as well as broadcast coverage as part of weekly staple Road to the Olympic Games on CBC and the free\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gem.cbc.ca\/\">CBC Gem<\/a>\u00a0streaming service. Canadian audiences will be able to watch and cheer on the likes of Olympic Games gold medallist <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> and two-time World Champion <strong>Kylie Masse,<\/strong> who are among the 13 Canadians competing in the inaugural season of the ISL. Viewers can add schedule reminders of CBC Sports\u2019 live coverage directly to their mobile devices through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cbc.calreplyapp.com\/aquatics\">ROKT Calendar tool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201cTeam Canada has amazing depth in the pool, and CBC Sports is thrilled to offer Canadians the opportunity to watch our country\u2019s elite swimmers compete against the best on the planet, offering a preview of what to look forward to at the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year,\u201d said Chris Wilson, Executive Director, Sports and Olympics, CBC.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The ISL also announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/islswimteams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">broadcasting deal with Eurosport<\/a> for two years that will give the new league a worldwide audience.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The ISL is a ground-breaking global professional team competition launching this fall that is set to revolutionize the sport of swimming. Star swimmers will be competing on behalf of eight clubs (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-olivia-smoliga-lead-cali-condors-roster-for-international-swimming-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cali Condors<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-cody-miller-lead-dc-trident-roster-for-international-swimming-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DC Trident<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/aqua-centurions-announces-roster-for-international-swimming-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aqua Centurions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/chad-le-clos-sarah-sjostrom-lead-energy-standard-roster-for-international-swimming-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energy Standard<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-murphy-kathleen-baker-chase-kalisz-headline-roster-for-isls-la-current\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LA Current<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/roster-for-isls-new-york-breakers-led-by-michael-andrew-marco-koch-lia-neal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NY Breakers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katinka-hosszu-vladimir-morozov-to-lead-team-iron-roster-for-international-swimming-league-roster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Team Iron<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-cate-campbell-lead-stacked-london-roar-roster-for-inaugural-international-swimming-league-full-roster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">London Roar<\/a>) to win points in regular season matches across Europe and the United States in October and November. The season culminates with the championship event in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on December 20 and 21, featuring the top four teams (two U.S.-based teams, two Europe-based teams) competing to be the first-ever ISL Champions. The ISL will engage sports fans each weekend with high-tempo two-hour matches, cutting-edge television production including a unique camera plan and behind-the-scenes access, and a never-before-seen live show. Canada will be represented by athletes on four of the eight ISL teams in the 2019 season:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, a native of Toronto, Ontario, won a total of four medals at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/simone-manuel-penny-oleksiak-tie-for-gold-in-historic-100-free-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gold in the women\u2019s 100-metre freestyle<\/a>. The 19-year-old will compete on the Energy Standard team alongside fellow Canadians <strong>Kierra Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Kayla Sanchez<\/strong>, and <strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong>. All four swimmers earned bronze medals as part of Canadian relays at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong>, 23, is the two-time defending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kylie-masse-retains-world-title-in-100-back-while-continuing-canadian-momentum-race-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Champion<\/a> in the women\u2019s 100-metre backstroke, and she also won an Olympic Games bronze medal in that event in 2016. The Windsor, Ontario, native will race for the Cali Condors alongside <strong>Kelsey Wog<\/strong> of Winnipeg, Manitoba. While she won gold in the 100-metre backstroke at the World Aquatics Championships, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-kathleen-baker-stuns-with-new-world-record-in-100-back-nearly-breaks-58\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lost her world record<\/a> \u2013 and will be hungry this season to reclaim that mark.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Headlining for the Canadian men will be <strong>Markus Thormeyer<\/strong>, who is coming off a breakout 2019 campaign. The Delta, British Columbia native swept all four of his events at the Canadian World Championship Trials, and then followed up with an eighth-place finish at the World Aquatics Championships in the men\u2019s 200-metre backstroke. The 22-year-old will represent the New York Breakers along with countrymates <strong>Emily Overholt<\/strong>, <strong>Mack Darragh<\/strong>, and <strong>Haley Black<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Canadian athletes will be competing alongside some of the world\u2019s finest swimmers including <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong>, <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>, <strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong>, <strong>Federica Pellegrini<\/strong> and <strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong>.
